I'd say there's a pretty good chance he's up whether they're contending or not.
yeah i guess if they move Donaldson at the deadline they will need to soften the blow to casual fans. I think he will deserve a call up either way but I'm curious how conservative management plays this.

That's the one thing about baseball as opposed to hockey. Kids jump from junior to the bigs with little or no wait time in hockey. In Baseball, usually there is a long (2-4 years) wait from the draft until your farmhands start to show enough promise to be even considered for a late season call up, let alone cracking a roster out of Spring training. Its tough as a fan to be patient when you see things like this and yet know that they're still probably not quite ready. It's like waiting for Christmas morning...in February.

I am okay waiting. I know it will be another year at least, but it's exciting to see what's coming. Plus out of the 17 guys Shapkins brought in this year, maybe 2-3 will actually turn into found gold. As long as the result in the end is worth it.

From the Sickles list about Bichette:

Bo Bichette, SS, Grade A: Age 20, second round pick in 2016 from high school in St. Petersburg, Florida; hit .362/.423/.565 with 14 homers, 41 doubles, 22 steals, 42 walks, 81 strikeouts in 448 at-bats between Low-A and High-A; holds a .372 career average with 50 doubles in 530 professional at-bats; nothing like his dad as a player, more like a possible Derek Jeter type; exceptional feel for hitting with very polished approach for his age, some of those doubles may become homers as he matures; defensive tools may be stretched a bit at shortstop; my thinking is that he could be a decent defender at short but would be truly excellent if moved to second; between Guerrero and Bichette the Jays have two of the top five prospects in baseball; ETA 2019.

Buck & Pat are salivating already.

What a surprise, Heyman reports wrong information from “sources” and yet again looks like a clown.

Taylor Guerrieri has pitched pretty well. Might be an option for the bullpen.

This might be the underrated pick up of the offseason. Former top prospect with upside and good enough minor stats with injury issues. Hopefully he is healthy.

I read some of the twitter comments and some were saying the Jays should do what the Leafs did and just the play the young guys. It's extremely rare for players to rush into the big leagues.

Hey was wondering if you guys/gals could help me with a pool I’m in? It’s a total home run pool consisting of picking 5 players. Only rule is the 5 players can only have a cumulative 2017 HR total of 125 or less.

Was looking for help on a few sleepers then go with 2-3 big names. Perhaps Rhys Hoskins or Devers.

Any advice or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Here is a group of players that get you below the 125 mark...

1. Mike Trout (33)
2. Freddie Freeman (28)
3. Matt Olson (24)
4. Rhys Hoskins (18)
5. Yoenis Cespedes (17)

If you want a Blue Jay, I could see Grichuk hitting 30 this season. He’s a lower buy than guys like Smoak, Morales, Donaldson, etc.
