I gave Pegula credit for buying out Jeff Skinner. See, I wasn’t totally negative.
Well, considering that it was he who insisted on signing Skinner to this contract...I gave Pegula credit for buying out Jeff Skinner. See, I wasn’t totally negative.
lol. I was going to say that for “worst decision by owner,” but opted for “buying the team in the first place.”Well, considering that it was he who insisted on signing Skinner to this contract...
Strong contender.Best Decision: Firing Ralph Krueger
Worst decision: Hiring Ralph Krueger

I think Jeff's agent did a good job. He knew Buffalo had a pretty weak roster and they wouldn't want to lose a guy who scored 40 goals. I doubt anyone was willing to pay him 10 million a year, but who knows. No joke. How did he arrive at a contract where he competed against himself? $72 M over 8 years. no team could go more than seven, and he wanted to stay in Buffalo. I'm supposed to believe there was another team willing to go $10 M x 7 years. LOL. That contract should have been $7.5 M x 8 or $60 million. Yes, it was a crazy deal and implied some team would go $8.5 M x seven for Skinner.
This contract (followed by demanding O'Reilly be traded one day before the bonus was due) is a key exhibit of incompetence Pegula. How they got to $72 M over eight will always be a mystery.
We were going to stuck with a bad contract but amazing how they got played.

Wasn't there that "play close to home" motivation? Or was it a good smokescreen from Jeff. Not to re-litigate here, but It was pretty clear that Jeff wanted to go to Market and the contract he got was the 'make me stay' price. It was a dumb decision to pay it. I think (hope) that they've learned their lesson about essentially paying hostage negotiation prices.

Well, how else can I say it, it was a bad contract, but they got themselves into a situation where the team only had Eichel and Reinhart and nothing else. They screwed up.That's like saying the guy doing the three-card monty did a good job faking out the rubes.

If a chant starts in Buffalo, does it make a sound in Boca?hope the poor souls who keep going start a “Sell The Fran-chise” chant at some point this year. Terry has more than earned that and all other fan ire
