I think to a large degree that the rent subsidy will be offset by less use of the interest free loan, because many small businesses just can't go into more debt. I own a bathroom renovation business, we won't qualify for the rent subsidy as we remained running, albeit in a much smaller scale. But the other businesses in the building, pet grooming, hair salon, tattoo parlour, ceramics, kids special ed - all were shut down completely. I can see them taking advantage of the rent subsidy because they were very viable and should come back. But recovering 3-4 months of past rent when no services were being provided, that's too much to come back from when your transactions are service based. So the rent subsidy probably saves them, while the loan program probably would not have.

The problem I see with service based businesses is that after months of being out of work many people are going to have some catching up to do. The money just won't be there for that type of thing. Pet grooming and tattoos (just to use a few of your examples) are the kind of things people can live without and likely will for a while at least.

Vile and evil?

Any basis for you feeling that way?

he just isn’t qwhite what they like. They’re probably still mad over him using Dijon mustard. The two guys are not even remotely comparable. One guy can’t speak coherent sentences 75% of the time

As for opening up certain businesses I have a buddy who is a tattoo artist and boy do I feel shitty for him. There’s absolutely know way they can consider opening for months. I may buy him a stick and poke kit and pay for a bunch of bootleg prison tattoos

People in general know better. Those with common sense are also safe. But I agree with the more gullible.

A huge portion of influenza deaths in 1918 came from folks wrongly overdosing on aspirin or some other magic potion being touted as a remedy.

He must have thought he was talking about something else.

It seems to me that as things flatten over the next few weeks some things like tatoo, barbers, hair do places and such should be able to have a controlled opening. We will have cases for months to years and thats horrible. But once med facilities can have capacity and PPE gets more available we have to roll back out. Thats hard for me to say since I’m in prime target group. But it does have to happen. Now ffs somebody, a lot of medical somebodys, come up with a comprehensive plan.

This kind of reporting is really ticking me off.

It is famously known USS Comfort was here to treat patients not in danger of Covid. It was here for everything else if NYC hospitals were overwhelmed.

I'm not sure about the tents and it's horrible these people were not cared for but the rest of it is the worst kind of reporting.

The whole re-opening thing is hilarious. You know what the only place in the country right now is that can't social distance? It's a place where people wear full hazmat type protection and the infection rate is still enormous...It's a nursing home. See what's going on there when you have people all close together? And people want to open schools, offices, bars, restaurants and malls? HAHAHAHA...with all the precautions we have taken, there are 2 people out of every 1000 that have become infected....throw a bunch of people together like a nursing home where the infection rate could be 30% you are looking at complete disaster.

hey bud, good to see you posting. hope your family is doing well. it's heroes like them
that will help this country return to some type of normal, so thank you to them for
what they do every day.

This is how the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation covered Trump's statement that he was being sarcastic.

The video from Thursday clearly shows he was addressing the doctors NOT reporters.

my Prime Minister is far from perfect but I don`t get up from my couch after one of his briefings feeling I`ve been lied to with every sentence offered.

Right now the PM and gov`t is taking heat at their sluggish financial response to small business as they should be but speaking strictly as an individual who lost his job, I was able to apply for the CERB (Canadian Emergency Response Benefit) easily, I had to have a copy of my ROE as proof I lost my job due to covid but that took all of 20 seconds to upload. The application process was , all told, about 5 minutes long, simple and straight forward and I received my assistance within 3 days.

BC gov`t also offering a one time only grant of $1000 coming up this Friday and there is rent relief applications available which is also very easy to apply for

So grateful that I feel this government has, at the very least, been very good to put in place financial help to individuals, again, I can`t speak to the small business aid

NY Post is a tabloid, if people trust them for their reporting that’s on them

and I’m not just calling them a tabloid just to call them a tabloid- it’s literally what they are. Down to the headlines and formatting.

Trump is what he is. The problem are the people who know better (they are intelligent) and voted for him. I get 65 M people have sub 90 IQ and many will believe anything you tell them but those who aren’t should be embarrassed

Republicans will typically vote Republican but unity in the Democratic party seems to be their biggest issue. The Bernie supporters and moderate Democrats seem like 2 different parties which is why you see a lack of energy to vote for candidates like Clinton and Biden. There were a lot of defections from the Obama coalition in 2016 when Clinton was the candidate

I am shocked....that someone, President or not... beleive a disinfecting product can resolve Covid 19 infection......
And being sarcastic about this in response is just.... irresponsible.

I consider myself politically a Republican all things equal - moderate who leans conservative and I bet I’ve voted Republican more than Trump has

if Trump switched parties and ran as a Democrat I’d vote Republican

it’s a Trump thing not a party thing

Many people feel this way
