Still shocked at the amount of people on social media denying this is real and saying it's a hoax. A kid I grew up with posted on FB that he lost a friend to this yesterday, and followed that up with saying how he didn't believe it was real up until his friend passed away. It shows you that because of the false narrative one guy with a huge platform perpetuated for months, his ardent followers still don't think this is real.
It's a powerful new kind of denial, faith on the messenger.

Ultimately, these are the people who will be most affected by this in every country. The poorest and the weakest. Anyone living paycheck to paycheck, especially in urban areas like NYC and Boston (which is a staggering number of people) will struggle as well, though people with things like the privilege of a higher education can get back on their feet far more easily.

If anyone thinks that leaders haven’t done the math on this, they’re very wrong. These people are looked at as replaceable workers and, since they make very little in wage, are a negligible loss to money flow going into the economy.

If we all don’t take a stand for the poor, no one will. They don’t have a podium to stand on or even a message board to type on most of the time.

Thank you for this post. Your point is a necessary one and if it takes this pandemic to open the eyes and ears of America then good. Let's fix the issue.
Now is time for a change, a considerable change in America.

I assume that this means that Canadians living the USA are still unable to return to Canada to visit.
It's only for essentials until May 15th. Trump wanted to open the borders saying Canada was ok... Trudeau said not a chance we open the borders as of now.

Ontario hasn't peak yet...

I am totally lost as to displays like this.

This is right up there with people posting their graduation pictures in support of seniors who won’t have graduations this year. It’s tone deaf.

Positivity is important, but so is thinking things through.
These showings including people applauding from their balconies are greatly appreciated by the health care professionals.

I'm for anything that will make them feel better, even if it's only for a few minutes or so. They deserve it.
