Only thing I care about from Gallant on Kakko is him saying he sees him and Laf as definite top 6 players next year. Im not going to twist myself into a pretzel all summer worrying about the G6 scratch that ultimately wouldnt have mattered either way.

I will say that he was asked last offseason and training camp if he saw Laf and Kakko as top 6 and he dodged the question/we will see how things play out blah blah. This, at least, was a hard and fast answer to the question which I think bodes well. Maybe they really are going to run some combo of the top 6 as:

Kreider-Z-Kakko/Laf
Panarin-Chytil/Copp-Kakko/Laf

Would be good for the team and the cap.

Poor Chytil

Chytil needs to build on what he did in the playoffs. I'm very encouraged, especially with his willingness to get physical and get in on the forecheck. Would mind trying him on the PK because his speed and size could make him an asset there.

The concern for me is his durability. It seems he cant go a month or 2 without getting hurt.

Because Dryden Hunt, Kevin Rooney and a one-legged Ryan Strome give us a better chance to win than Kaapo Kakko.

As much as the decision pissed me off, 100% agree with this. Fatigue huge issue for the NYR as well.

I guess we can reasonably assume this Goodrow Lindgren Copp as definite and Panarin Motte Strome Chytil as other guys who were hurt before or during the playoffs.

But who gives you a better chance to win, Hunt and Rooney or Kakko? At least Kakko had a goal in the series.

Any coach that sees Hunt and zombie Strome as better options than a healthy Kakko is a poor evaluator of what needs to be done to win the ultimate prize. He'll get canned here like he did in Vegas after a few years after we falter for the next 2 or so years

It's true that it most likely wouldnt have made a difference, but it was still a 1 goal game. All it would have taken is that one pass, takeaway, or drawn penalty from Kakko, which makes the difference over Rooney/Hunt/Strome
