Obviously his agent has coached him on those responses. Too f***ing neat. If you're an agent, this is how you blindside a team with an offer sheet.

So all of this overblown rhetoric about offer sheets and playing in Finland or Siberia is a bunch of horsecrap?

Gee, who knew? ;)
Not that I think that Kakko would sign an offer-sheet, but Parise told Devil fans not to worry and then he signed with Minnesota.

And Tavares pulled the same thing against Isles fans.

inexcusable to not sit down the player and make sure they understand the rationale in the decision. How is this guy a "players" coach when he doesn't even interact with his players?
According to some posters here, he doesn't need to explain his rationale. He has "multiple" Stanly cups and knows what it takes to win as a coach. What a load of crock. This dude is not a good coach, you don't get fired twice for no reason. The way he got fired is very telling.

I hate to speculate, so that's all this is, but my guess is that Kakko was set to play but Strome pushed him out last minute. And GG was unhappy about it and didn't know how to respond, and what to tell Kakko.
And when it turned out Strome was more injured than he though/said, GG was probably even more upset, and didn't want to talk about it after the game. He seems to be ok with KK, saying he is 100% top-6 the upcoming season.

If that were the case he would explain himself to KK. Let's be real, GG gives 2 you know what about KK. He acts like his stuff don't stink.

Take it from me, I know you mean well but don’t bother speculating on this unless you enjoy getting ripped for no reason lol

It's the typical "young player, low man on the totem pole" treatment from an old school coach who also played in that environment.

I can almost guarantee he spoke to Reaves when he scratched Reaves.

LaGreca and Michael Kay are talking about the Kakko statement right now.

Kay said Rick DiPietro just texted him and said Gallant not talking to Kakko shows he has no respect for him.

Definitely DiPietro trying to stir the pot IMO but figured I'd relay just to get everyone riled up.
I just don't understand how as a coach you can't take 2 minutes to talk to a player to make sure he understands the decision. Makes you wonder how Kravtsov was communicated that he was going down again at the beginning of the season.

Gallant does that to everyone. He said after he was hired that he didn't even want to talk to any of the players until training camp. It's inexcusable not to talk to Kakko about it but he's not singling him out or anything with that kind of behavior.

Strome signs a 1 yr deal. Gets hip surgery and LTIR until next May and joins the team for the playoffs. That's how you win championships.
If you change Ryan strome to Nikita kucherov it is. Let’s see who we can promote from within at camp. I would think there is a player in Flint who would love to do Vatranos job. Do we have a left d who could play 3rd pair minutes? Lundkuist come on down. Are any of these guys tradeable ina group to get a player that fits in etc. the team that lost game 6 will not be the day 1 team next year.

Not too thrilled that KK found out like that that he wasn’t playing. Hell just have one of the assisant coaches go have a 30 second conversation with the kid if you don’t want to. He was probably totally confused why he wasn’t playing, especially over Hunt and a broken Strome.

Oh well, Drury’s first RFA target should be getting him signed so all the drama from this ends.

I don't think either of these things happened.

Their fans will tell you they did, but they needed to justify their vile response to be jilted by a former player.

KK finding out like that just makes the situation even weirder. Ah well, I like what he said in his interview, & I’m sure he will be signed.

Only thing I’m slightly concerned about is a team giving an offersheet he can’t refuse due to how much it would make sense financially.

people are reading into this way too much. guys get scratched all the time without being told why, these guys are professional athletes not 9 year olds. Kakko was pretty bad in game 5 and i'm sure he knows that he was without it being explained to him.
