Kerfoot has been great this year but the trade was terrible.
There really wasn't anything fine about it.
And people are still sad about McCann.
Why?I mean they could have exposed Holl and kept both Kerfoot and McCann so...... Yeah

It’s almost like people feel the Leafs kept Kerfoot over McCann. They were both exposed. And people are still sad about McCann.

Oh man, imagine how people like you would act if Dubas entered into the season with Evan Rodrigues as his 2nd line LW instead of Kerfoot. Guys like that are good stories that come out of nowhere. Not people you plan to rely on for numerous roles like we do with Kerfoot
Why?
I mean....how do you replace a 4/5 D for $2 million with term? Keeping both McCann and Kerfoot also means means you have $1 million less to spend on D and have to blow up the team to make the cap work.
It worked out perfectly. Some people act like the cap doesn't exist in their fairy tale worlds....

The obvious mistake was keeping Holl over McCann.
I don't recall any trade or signing freezes after the expansion draft. Then who plays defence for the team?
Having a rookie like Lily as the teams #2 rhd wouldn't be an optimal situation
What if Seattle had chose Kerfoot instead?I have posted about this many times. Kerfoot gave us cost certainty for next season, McCann had Arb right and a QO of 3.38.
If he became what everyone believed he would playing for us we wouldn't be able to afford him this summer.
Except it was pretty obviously not a mistake. The obvious mistake was keeping Holl over McCann.
McCann plays for the Kraken.Ridiculous though. McCann plays top line minutes, top PP minutes and wouldn't nearly have the production here as a 3rd line C.
Kerfoot with almost zero PP time is actually out producing McCann.
Same with Kadri. Mack has been injured a lot and Kadri is playing 1C a lot. As well as topp PP time with Rantanen, Makar, and Landeskog.
He is having a fantastic year but his numbers would be nowhere close to where they are if he was 3rd C here.
