All the refs and linesman are Canadian besides 1

I was upset at first that we had Canadian referees in the 2014 Olympics finals but after seeing referees from other countries in other matchups and in the IIHF WCs, I tend to prefer the Canadian ones.

so do all the players, and have for all the tournaments. Its quite funny, armchair fans making excuses, while the actual players playing prefer the NHL ones

So you are the spokesman of all players in all tournaments ... ever ? And they all think the same ?

Home teams win more. Fact (according to your scientific study)


Canada won in the US, in Russia in the past Olympic best on best tournaments. Shouldn't the US and Russia have won those tournaments? How did the away team Canada manage to destroy these home teams?

You missed my point entirely (again) ...

What the study shows is that refs are not unbiased .

A supposedly neutral ref statistically favours the home crowd even if he has NO ties WHATSOEVER to any of the teams.

Then imagine the potential bias of a ref from a particular nation in a match involving his OWN country.

Do you follow me now ?

One of you guys even stated that an american ref for a fact favoured the american hockey team in an olympic tournament.

So why choose a canadian ref in a match that includes Canada.

To you guys it's OK but as I said before: you are biased.

Why not choose a ref from a neutral country instead ?

And then you jump to the conclusion that I'm saying that just because of an unnecessary risk of bias there would be no Canadian teams winning abroad or with neutral refs. That is not so.

Canada has the best ice hockey players in the world (because they have 12 times as many ice hockey players as in Sweden) and would probably win something like 2 out of 3 tournaments with unbiased refs.

But why risk bias ?

Why not have refs from neutral countries ?

That is what I've been saying all along .

Choosing canadian refs in a match involving Canada is a potential risk of bias is not neccessary ...

Canada usually is the legitimate winner, no doubt but there would not even be a discussion if they'd do it right.
