I really like the dynamics of a JVR - Kardi - Komorov line. Hopefully that works out.

Makes you wonder who is going to play on the PP though. Kessel, Lupul, JVR, Grabovski and Kadri are all a given for powerplay time, but who is the last guy? And who plays with who? Might have to break up some 5-on-5 lines.

PP is where we are going to miss Gards for the first few games. Hopefully he is ready to go soon.

I want to know what our powerplay unit and penalty kill units will be like.

From practice (if my memory serves me right):

PP1

Lupul - JVR - Kessel (not sure who was taking draws here)
Kostka - Phaneuf

Didn't see a PP2 posted but I can only imagine it involved the Grabo line and Kadri

Mac - Grabo - Kule/Kadri
Liles - Franson/Kadri

As for PK there were a few combinations, and combined with what we saw last year one could assume:

PK1
Steckel Kule
Gunn Phaneuf

PK2
Komarov Brown
Kostka? Komi

Grabovski Bozak and a few others were used on the pk aswell last year. We'll see who RC prefers.

Hope that helps.

Kostka mic'd up, great video. Seems like a character guy, I think he could end up being a Rafalski for us. I'm glad he's getting shot and even more so that he's being put in a position to succeed. Drop the puck already!!

No McClemment on PK? I thought he was here for that role?

An undrafted, offensively gifted, undersized defenseman who breaks into the league at around 27, very similar trajectories no?
Why don't we wait until he actually plays a season, let alone a game before making a comparison like that.

Are we going to let the new guys pick their own number? Or are we going to use Burke's old rule and have them stuck with dusty numbers? (Kostka wearing 53 etc.)

Kadri has already said he plans to stay with 43 as long as hes a leaf. People have to remember that he had his 43 number longer than maybe any other. he wore 19 for two years in Kitch, and 91 for the Knights. Hes been no 43 on the Leafs since 2009
