My impression honestly is that he's just not GM material. He flubbed the Nylander negotiations, he seems to not be handling Marner well, he makes promises everybody knows he can't keep which makes him seem untrustworthy. He's so inflexible as to be unable to make a trade that betters his team. He makes terrible offers to rival the most mediocre of the trade board, then seemingly is leaking to the media to justify his offers.

He seems like a clown over his head. He was a guy I wanted for us when we fired RF; we dodged a bullet.

I agree with all this, and add that I think he really showed his uselessness with the Matthews deal and not Nylander. There's simply *no* reason to give an RFA that big a contract unless you're buying out multiple UFA seasons. None. McDavid's deal was four RFA seasons and four UFA seasons, and it was only fractionally bigger.

He's insinuating that none of the other RFAs are getting offer sheeted but that the other NHL teams are eyeing up Aho for offer sheet

Then he simply doesn't understand how offer sheets work. Offer sheet him. We will match it and all will be fine. It would be a total waste of time for other teams to "eye up" and try to offer sheet Aho. He's not going anywhere. All they will be doing is helping us sign our own player. And GMs understand this, which is why it won't happen.

Kypreos thinks the players being "lowballed" makes them vulnerable. It doesn't. The guys who are vulnerable are the ones who's teams are up against the cap. We're not. Aho isn't going anywhere.

I'm frankly exhausted by the "penny pinching" narrative. Kypreos is just enjoying piling on. He's got no info and he's being a dick.

Just think about how much money we could save by replacing him with someone on an ELC though!!!

No reason at all to trade him for futures but unfortunately that's what will probably happen.

This offseason, given what the payroll will be if things are maintained, is going to tell us a lot in terms of how financially committed Dundon is. I can give him a pass for the low 60s payroll last year, but if he goes barebones after the success they had, I'll be nervous about this team's ability to compete moving forward.
