Felix somehow pulls it out of the fire. 3 and a half hours...gotta be running on empty at this point.

Lots of emotion from him at the end.

Mad respect to both players. Felix made winning ugly look pretty good.

It's unlikely, but Felix could potentially pass Medvedev in the rankings this week and get to #5 in the world.

I don't expect it given how much tennis Felix has played, but the scenario is there.

Felix very likely draws Fritz next. Can't imagine Felixp winning that one. He needs and deserves a rest.

Assuming Fritz wins against Simon. Gilles took the first 7-5 and it's 4 all in the second.

Rune awfully impressive in dismantling Hurkacz 5 and 1. If the little twerp isn't Alcaraz class yet, he's getting very close, very fast.

Simon does Felix a huge favour by knocking off Fritz in three sets. The tennis was an error fest by both players, especially Fritz. But that didn't prevent the atmosphere from being absolutely electric as Gilles put off retirement for yet another day.

This sure didn't wear well...didn't make it through the afternoon.

After Rune beat Stan, they shook hands at the net and Stan wouldn't let his hand go. According to commentators Stan told him to stop acting like a baby on the court. I think Rune is a brat but it wasn't Stan's place to tell him and to suck the air out of his victory. If he really wanted to help him he should have said it in the dressing room.
Plus, Rune wasn't really being a brat yesterday.

Somehow Stan's action didn't bother me at all. The kid needs to wise up fast.
It was not his place to say at all, especially in a game where Rune did nothing wrong.

It just comes off as being a sore loser imo.

I think Rune is working on it, and has a sports psychologist attached to his team - And I have also seen some improvement.

Denis needs to stop acting up every time things go sour. His personality reminds me so much of Andy Murray, really nice guy off the court, sour at times on the court. Yelling at your box doesn't help you play better.

Paul dismantles Nadal 6-1 in the 3rd. Nadal might as well shut it down for the year. Year end #1 not likely to happen now.

As his play deteriorated as the match progressed, by the end of the third set Rafa moved like a 60 year old man going through the motions without passion or desire. Sad to see.

Winning today, Felix has assured himself of a new career high ranking of at least #6 in the world (previous career high was #8). He can get to #5 if he makes the final.

I thought Felix looked fresh as a daisy in the first set, but the bloom faded pretty quickly in the second set which was more of a slog. Can't believe he managed to get to the quarters of this thing. Don't like his chances the rest of the way, but, I mean, we can't complain, can we? This has been one hell of a run.

Tiafoe next. He is 2-0 career against him.

Tiafoe can be very up and down, so we'll see which one he gets.

Murray used to be downright abusive to his box. I always wondered why his wife didn't divorce him on the spot. She must have a complicated life--she never sits within spitting distance of his mother.

It will be on centre court. Taifoe thrives on centre courts. He lives for them. I'm going with Francis.

Looks like I have on different occasions picked both Rune and Alcaraz to win today, seeing as how I earlier picked Holger to defeat Carlos on his way to the finals against Nole. Alcaraz does seem the safer bet though Rune might be the hungrier player right now. Should be a treat either way.

Even though very different, Carlos and Rune are on good terms, and have known each other for many years.

I would love for Rune to win this, but as of now, Carlos is still a step above Rune.
