ESPN is shutting down Grantland. ****ing awful.

Honestly, I'm surprised it took them this long.

They fired Bill Simmons in July, and Grantland was basically his baby. I would have thought they would have thrown away the baby with the bath water when they canned Simmons and shut down Grantland within a week, but they kept it up. I was cautiously optimistic that despite their massive error in the Simmons dismissal, that they would at least see the value that Grantland has and keep it in spite of their egoistic tendency to kill anything that is associated with someone they dislike.... but I guess I was wrong.

"ESPN will ruin a thing exponentially sooner than it would have a chance to do so if left to it's own devices"... I'm pretty sure that's the 4th law of Classical Physics? I mean, I'm sure there were Arabic scientists in the 12th century that had hypothesized such a law, but it really wasn't until the enlightenment that it was proven in any real context.

Typical ESPN.

Get over it. It was 2 decades ago. It's not like the season was cancelled when the Expos were up 3-0 in the NLCS.

Prior to and including 94, I used to go to anywhere from 5 to 15 games a year. I would pretty much watch every single Expos game that was televised.

After that strike I have not attended a MLB game and only watched a handful of games on TV.

When I'm jilted, I don't forgive and I don't forget.

No kidding. Sounds like you were more of an Expos fan than an MLB fan.

And I don't blame you; I think if the Sens folded, I'd have a tough time really giving much of a hoot about NHL hockey again.

The very late 70s and into the 80s was my first step from casual watch-on-tv-when-its-on fan to buying the baseball cards, following the team, becoming a fanatic. Seeing Andre Dawson, Gary Carter and Tim Raines era with the Expos (best baseball uniforms ever!) was magical as a kid.

The sting of losing them....it still hurts. A lot.

Still can't get back into baseball.

Add Dion Lewis to the list of high-profile injuries in the NFL this year.

Most ridiculous season I can remember to date. Never seen this many high-skill guys injured like this, ever.

Yeah they are hoping it's not too bad, but looking like he will still miss a few weeks.

Really too bad, he was having quite a breakout season.

Edit: Uhh, now they are reporting a torn ACL, missing the rest of the season. Really too bad.

Pats Giants good game today. Came down to the wire Pats won. A few games the Giants have lost this year have been late in the 4th Q . Their record could look much better with any luck.

Edelman left today's game looked like an ankle they're calling it a foot injury.

Bradford.. also injured today.

Hard to win when the other team cheats with impunity.

Oh get over it. Brady is arguably having his best season ever and proving that "deflategate" was much ado about nothing.

Get over what? They are cheaters. Did they cheat this time? Maybe maybe not. But we know at this point it's not something they'd have any issues taking part in.

Doesn't matter how many touchdowns he throws.

My point is we do not know that.
He (Brady) at this point more probably than not did not cheat
Do you actually know something about the deflate infraction that he was accused of or are you just jumping on the band wagon of Pats haters.
He went to court. There was no proof. He did not cheat.

He destroyed his phone for fun then?

If this was just a one off incident, I might be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they have a reputation for this sort of thing now.

I mean, Ben Roethelisberger was never convicted of sexual assault, but I'd still probably avoid finding myself alone in a bathroom with him.

The Pats have been PROVEN cheaters in the past.

Belichek is slimy, will do whatever it takes to win, including stealing signals and play sheets. There are rules for the NFL, and they are bent by the Pats over, and over, and over again.

They don't need to, they have a great team, but they have, and will likely continue to do.

Some people will just never get over it. You just have to ignore them.

What the Pats do is exactly what all the teams do, they try to gain the edge by bending rules. It's always been done and will always continue to be done.

Anyone who has played competitive sports does it. Your kidding yourself if you don't think so.

Stealing signals is the oldest trick in the book, hence why teams change them up so often.

Say what you want about the Pats but they just keep on winning. It would not surprise me in the slightest if Brady wins a 2nd consecutive SB this season. It just seems like it would be fitting considering all the off season things that happened, and this is coming from a guy who isn't a Pats fan. They'll have Edelman back well before the playoffs as Gronk is as dominant as ever. I hope someone can knock them off but they look very good

Redblacks related question...

Will there be tailgating on Sunday?

And can we bring our own beer?

There is no tailgating on site. Anyone who tailgates has to do it in an off-site parking lot close by. There are sporadic outbreaks of it, but nothing like you see in Buffalo before Bills games...

Bingo. The Pats have been busted numerous times. And probably more than that has been swept under the rug by the NFL to "protect the shield".

At least we know the Giants will once again beat them in the Super Bowl this year.
