Yeah, in baseball your 9 position players (in the AL pitcher is replaced by a DH -- designated hitter) are brought up to the plate in a specific order as decided prior to the game.
The only substitutions you can make for batters are players off your bench which then take the original player out of the game.

EJ is a mediocre back-up and somehow they almost still won this game.
The Bills have been decimated by injuries on offense but the concerning thing is we had a Top 3 défense last year and we hired Rex to build on that. The D has gotten worse. Much worse.

Just an observation given all the jays gear i've seen constantly the past few weeks. Yesterday one cap is all i saw and I was downtown all night long.

I was in downtown Montreal and there were about 50 Jays caps around. Mind you the Leafs were playing in town so the TO pride may have been higher. But I also saw a lot of Jays caps with Habs gear.

Arian Forster tore his achilles. So, I lost Charles and Foster for the season in my fantasy pool. I'm doomed. I feel bad for Foster too. I really respect the guy as a player and for talking out as an atheist/agnostic in an atmosphere that is nearly hostile towards his non-beliefs.

Well, the report making the rounds today is that Alex Anthopoulos will not be returning for the Jays next season. Has apparently turned down a contract extension. Is contract is up on Saturday.
Also a rumour/report that in Mark Shapiro's(new team president) first meeting with the Jays staff, he told the front office they traded too many prospects this year.
So new GM and probably new manager next season.

So the guy that left the Indians in somewhat of a mess comes in and tells the GM who made tough but shrewd moves that not only made the Jays relevant but also made them (errrr... Rogers) a boatload of money on the road to a post-season berth that he didn't do a good job?
This is ridiculous. With all the futility the Jays had over the years, Anthopoulos deserves quite a bit of credit. There is no way he should be let go at this time.
Also if they resign David Price, then all those prospects really mean nothing. None of them will ever be as good as Price. Maybe Hoffman, but even then.

It's not just the Price trade. He gutted the cupboards to acquire Tulo, Donaldson and Dickey. They Dickey trade is looking worse by the day because it was for 2 seasons of Dickey and the Mets have just one of the guys acquired in that trade (Syndegard) already looking like a future Cy Young winner.
Alex is the baseball equivalent of Muckler. He went all in and didn't win. And he's a coward because he's running away instead of trying to refill the cupboards. Pulling a Brian Burke in Anaheim.

Anthopoulos was offered a contract extension by Shapiro. Anthopoulos rejected it.
He is bailing on the Jays, not the other way around.
The Dickey trade came and went, it's not that bad. Sure Syndergaard is going to be awesome but you can't discount what Dickey has done here, we don't even make the playoffs this year without him. It's going to be at least 4 seasons worth of Dickey not 2.
And this year was never world series or bust, all those trades will still help us next year.
Also the story coming out is basically he got told he wasn't going to have full control of GM duties, I would have told them to shove it too.
I would do the Donaldson and Tulo over again every time. Muckler and Anthopoulos is a bad comparison. Muckler never got close to the talent that AA got.
They were 90 feet away from going to a game 7 and who knows what would have happened there.
I'm not happy the way the season ended either, but there's no way what AA did in Toronto was anything close to being cowardly or "pulling a Burke". The team is still in position to contend a few more seasons because of those trades.
Because the conditions changed. He wasn't going to have full control anymore.

Bingo. I don't blame AA for this move. I do blame Shapiro. There will be backlash. What a shame, I'm sure he had a good plan for the team going forward. AA drafts pitching very well and could have had the cupboards re-stocked in a matter of a few years. There is nothing wrong with trading prospects for big ticket players if you know how to fill the cupboards back up each year. This is baseball, not the NHL. Tons of prospects get put into the system in a single year.
I wonder who will be the new manager, assuming Gibbons gets the boot too.
