Stop trying to change lanes. That's not at all what your original post said. You attacked the player, not the potential construction of the team.
My bad for miscommunicating. The whole argument I have with regard smurfy players is roster construction. I like all 3 of the small players. I had soured a bit on Nazar coming into the season but him lighting up the AHL has me back on board.

Do you remember when I tried to trade Kantserov+ for Wright on the main boards and was arguing about how good he is?

I have been a Kantserov fan for a while.

I don't mind taking small players but my personal limit is two in your top 6.

Hell no but great post

It's not the fact that they're picking smurfs it's the quantity.

3 in the top 6 is too many. (Bedard/Kantserov/Nazar)

And Moore is 5-11 so there's that.

God I thought you were kidding with the above.

It's not about the height - does he win battles, does he go to the dirty areas/in front of the net, is he a perimeter player, who is he on the boards, is he physical? These are the deciding factors in if a player plays 'big' or 'small'.

Think of Stroke vs Brayden Point (although I feel like this is always pointed out to you).

And by all accounts btw Kantserov seems to be play a bigger game. Nazar too. Moore too. Even Bedard is absolutely fine in those aspects.

Literally zero issues with this in our prospect pool. We also have big boys like Boisvert, Pridham and a bunch of 3rd line projecting forwards with plus size who will provide even more physical tools.

Strome vs Point?

Yeah I get it. But at some point you just get bullied.

Kantserov’s development curve has been crazy. Metallurg started using him more last year down the stretch last year once he signed the extension and he had a really nice postseason with them. This year he’s just exploded. Nice part is even with that extension he only has one more year after this one

Funny part is, he’s like a well kept secret. No one is talking about him except HFHawks.
Lack of Junior International exposure plays a big part of it. Not sure Kucherov was even going to get drafted before he lit up the U18 out of seemingly nowhere. After a couple of good U20s, he was on everyone's radar for sure.

Maybe I shouldn't be so petty with the holidays upcoming but question (especially for Canadian Blackhawk / hockey fans : Would you deal Nazar or Oliver Moore for that incredible Phenomenon That has taken the entire hockey world by storm Easton Cowan ? Sorry I cant resist (Toronto Media made me do this)

Pass on Cowan...but I woukd trade Nazar or Moore and our Leafs' first to mpvevupto ac6 to ten spot in thisx2025 draft IF ourctarget still on the boardat thevpuck we traded up for...That target has gotvo be Caleb Denoyers who also brings in addition to his motor, scoring and playnaking stands out in this draft for his faceoff dominance...over 63% in thexQ...Not a smurfcatviver 6'1and you also getcax2 way game...perfect Cebter for thev2bdvkinecwith Bedardsas C in all aspects except takibg draws for line1...

Tgevorobkem is that Nazar gettibgbkiljedvin the dot Ndxwe know Bedardxstrughles on draws...Cannot have 2 surf C's who cannot win enough udrWs...and cannot have 2 smirk Cs eve if they coukd win draws..

Then adding smaller skilled wingers....Lardis,Kantserov...the lineup gets too small overall...

Do we Need bigger Centers ...and cebterscwho can win a lot of draws as well as score.

I think Kantserov has more skill than Nazar. Higher offensive ceiling but certainly a lower floor, he doesn't have Nazar's bulldog-ish like possession game that should guarantee him a role in the NHL for a long time.

I think he's our best shot at a like a 90+ point forward from our current crop of prospects. Odds arent high but the possibility is there in a way that I dont know if i see with anyone else. Him and Rinzel are KDs best picks so far.

Youare not being fair to Felcman...

Of the top 50 scorers to date thisseason in the Swiss NL (top Swiss men's league)only 1 is under 23 years old ...Tge vast majority are in their late 20s and 30s..

Felcman is only 19 and the youngest on hos team the SLC Tigers ..

I would bet Felcman only gets limited monutesxas a 4th liner.

But at Workd Jrs he is lkaying in his age peer group and getting 2C usage froCzechia.

If he was playing CHL junior hockey I think his stats would be quite good ifvthey gave hom top 2 line minutes and pp time.

Anyway for a 6'4198 lb C he looked pretty good in last night's pre-tournament game against Canada I thought.

He had a couple of o-zone scoring chances earlier in the gane before he scored a goal following up hiscown slot shot and going right to the net to cash in a rebound that ensued from that shot.. I thought he was stoing on the boards and skated weelk for a big guy..Also not sure of final faceoff stats but I do recall one key faceoff in the Swiss d-zone he won cleanly..If hev s good n draws thatvisxa useful ability Hawks need .

I am not saying he can be a top 2 C...his ceiling is bottom 2C..but before you wrrie him off he needs to get a bigger opportunity rather than limited 4th line duty for a team.

He brings something Hawks lack.. size with pretty good skating for a big guy.

I would sign him and gove him a chance to develop in Rockford..Could be a late bloomer IF developed properly..Pretty solid defensively from what I saw last night...competed. hard..

Just be fair..hev us only 19 in a men's league whose top 50 scorers are essentially 25 thru early 30s and he is not a featured player on his own team, with only 4th liners use.
His team leads the standings so there are good oler vet players on their top 3 lines ranking in seniority who they rely on to star for them.

I do not think hev s much of a connector or playmaker ...but a power forward who can use speed and powrr to muscle to the net ,win board battles and I suspect hevan do well on draws..

Maybe hevisxa Nock Fokigno type ..only a better skater abd hevis a Big C,though couldx also see hom as a power wing...

Obviously not a natural sniper or puck handler ...but maybe he works on his shot .... teans are always looking for big strong centers or wingersc who can play a 2 way game and who compete on the checking at the boards and I the middle of the ice. Also if he can win draws that willbe a very useful element of his game.

Would also like to see him play with more potential nhl talent ...if he were on Canada instead of Czechia and surrounded by deeper talent,I think he would get a lot more points than he probably will put up this tournament.

The point is...I do see sone potential for an NHL pro career with this big kid for bottom 2 lines IF sone of his attributes are developed further. ..

But if he languishes with limited 4th line minutes in Europe on teans depending on much older vets to carry them and a seniority priority ,that development might not ever get to full bloom.

.All I am saying is that he was one of the best Czechia forwards last night.

So I do not think you should write him off just yet...he may have some usefu role the Hawks who do not have much size in the yute pipeline ...somebody has to win oiard battles and checking battles and get to the middle slot and net high danger areas ...I f hecwre just a big slow guy ,then all bets off.. but I thought heskatedxwell for such a Big Rig type.

We will see what he can do or not, when tgecreal tournament begins.

BTW ...I believe his name is pronounced FELCHMAN ...it is notvspelled witb the H ..but I believe it is a soft CH sound notva hard CK ..so not Felckman or not Felcsmam where the C sounds like an S.

I say this because that is what the TDN by play guy pronounced it ... he called hom FELCHMAN....CH as in watch or chorizo..the TCH sound eve though no H in hos name.

I question that assertion because the KHL style of play is different than N.A. hockey in that they keep the shifts shorter and there is less individual puck handling play. Kantserov "bulls" his way to the net with no hesitation when the opportunity is there.

He plays with physicality and uses his speed and quickness to gain the advantage. Look at his OT winning goal yesterday - the play starts in his d-zone where his teammate Mikhailis (#11) grabs the puck and heads out of the zone with a defender trailing him. Kantserov is a couple strides behind them. By the time the defender crosses his own blueline Kantserov has passed him and slows down to angle him away from Mikhailis who takes the shot which the goalie blocks leaving the rebound right in front for Kantserov to shoot it in.

That play typifies the way Kantserov uses his quickness/speed, hockey-IQ and just enough physicality to give his teammate a better chance to score while not doing it so blatantly to draw an interference penalty while also then being in position to tap in the rebound.

Again the question is

How and when can we get him in a Blackhawks’ sweater?

We have Mikheyev here for another year, as the only other Russian, it’d be nice to him acclimatize him

Shalunov came over briefly but that boat had sailed, Kayumov and Safanov are still options(right?)…how is it ‘other’ NHL teams get their Russians over but the Hawks can not?

Kantserov's contract with his Russian club ends after next season so he probably comes over in 26. Now somehow Michkov was able to get out of his contract early and come over so maybe Kantserov can come over next year instead.

I just think Kantserov is the first bona fide NHL level prospect the Hawks have drafted in quite some time and convincing a kid to move halfway around the world to live in Rockford and ride busses isn't so easy. But I think if the Hawks really want Kantserov to come over, he will. They'll have to give him an NHL spot but I don't think anyone would complain about that. And Levshunov will be here. I know he's not Russian but maybe it counts? They also can always sign another Russian guy to play with him too.
