Youare not being fair to Felcman...
Of the top 50 scorers to date thisseason in the Swiss NL (top Swiss men's league)only 1 is under 23 years old ...Tge vast majority are in their late 20s and 30s..
Felcman is only 19 and the youngest on hos team the SLC Tigers ..
I would bet Felcman only gets limited monutesxas a 4th liner.
But at Workd Jrs he is lkaying in his age peer group and getting 2C usage froCzechia.
If he was playing CHL junior hockey I think his stats would be quite good ifvthey gave hom top 2 line minutes and pp time.
Anyway for a 6'4198 lb C he looked pretty good in last night's pre-tournament game against Canada I thought.
He had a couple of o-zone scoring chances earlier in the gane before he scored a goal following up hiscown slot shot and going right to the net to cash in a rebound that ensued from that shot.. I thought he was stoing on the boards and skated weelk for a big guy..Also not sure of final faceoff stats but I do recall one key faceoff in the Swiss d-zone he won cleanly..If hev s good n draws thatvisxa useful ability Hawks need .
I am not saying he can be a top 2 C...his ceiling is bottom 2C..but before you wrrie him off he needs to get a bigger opportunity rather than limited 4th line duty for a team.
He brings something Hawks lack.. size with pretty good skating for a big guy.
I would sign him and gove him a chance to develop in Rockford..Could be a late bloomer IF developed properly..Pretty solid defensively from what I saw last night...competed. hard..
Just be fair..hev us only 19 in a men's league whose top 50 scorers are essentially 25 thru early 30s and he is not a featured player on his own team, with only 4th liners use.
His team leads the standings so there are good oler vet players on their top 3 lines ranking in seniority who they rely on to star for them.
I do not think hev s much of a connector or playmaker ...but a power forward who can use speed and powrr to muscle to the net ,win board battles and I suspect hevan do well on draws..
Maybe hevisxa Nock Fokigno type ..only a better skater abd hevis a Big C,though couldx also see hom as a power wing...
Obviously not a natural sniper or puck handler ...but maybe he works on his shot .... teans are always looking for big strong centers or wingersc who can play a 2 way game and who compete on the checking at the boards and I the middle of the ice. Also if he can win draws that willbe a very useful element of his game.
Would also like to see him play with more potential nhl talent ...if he were on Canada instead of Czechia and surrounded by deeper talent,I think he would get a lot more points than he probably will put up this tournament.
The point is...I do see sone potential for an NHL pro career with this big kid for bottom 2 lines IF sone of his attributes are developed further. ..
But if he languishes with limited 4th line minutes in Europe on teans depending on much older vets to carry them and a seniority priority ,that development might not ever get to full bloom.
.All I am saying is that he was one of the best Czechia forwards last night.
So I do not think you should write him off just yet...he may have some usefu role the Hawks who do not have much size in the yute pipeline ...somebody has to win oiard battles and checking battles and get to the middle slot and net high danger areas ...I f hecwre just a big slow guy ,then all bets off.. but I thought heskatedxwell for such a Big Rig type.
We will see what he can do or not, when tgecreal tournament begins.
BTW ...I believe his name is pronounced FELCHMAN ...it is notvspelled witb the H ..but I believe it is a soft CH sound notva hard CK ..so not Felckman or not Felcsmam where the C sounds like an S.
I say this because that is what the TDN by play guy pronounced it ... he called hom FELCHMAN....CH as in watch or chorizo..the TCH sound eve though no H in hos name.
