You aren’t supposed to get superstars in the mid first. It’s cool if you do but it’s far from the norm. That’s why hawks need to tank this year.
Maybe Sam Rinzel for us. It's around a 20ish percent chance after the top half of the first, so one in every 4 or 5 guys we pick at that point in the first would potentially be a star. He's looking most likely to be that guy.

Just a shame he's in a position we're deep at.

A team can’t have too many superstar rhd’s.

Getting back to Moore stuff

If he hits upside, I see him as Daymond Langkow type 2nd line C

If he doesn't, I think he ends up more a Todd Marchant 3rd line C

Neither is bad for 18th overall pick and Hawks could use a player of either of those caliber/skill going forward

I'm a really big fan of James. I don't think he's got high-end upside but I've only ever seen clear top-9 upside from him. Speed, decent enough size, sneaky skill, tenacity. Really hope he signs at the end of the year.
Norm MacIver influenced pick people, he’s got the knowledge/handle on NCAA talent

If the Hawks want to sign and burn Rinzel Moore, James, Greene, Lardis, Thompson, and Harding the end of this year is gonna be so messy in a good and bad way. They need to clear out a ton of bodies on NHL and AHL.

We gonna be tracking like 12 guys pro debut.

Powers Article on Lev with some video breakdown on his first 2 games.

As Sorensen and the Blackhawks know, it’s just the start for Levshunov. They were happy to finally get him going, but they’re especially excited to see what he can do when he’s up to speed. He played nearly 24 minutes in his debut on Saturday and about another 22 minutes on Sunday.

I don't think you'll see any of the NHL pending UFA's (Hall, Athanasiou, Donato, Maroon, Smith, or Martinez) back which frees 6 NHL roster spots. Murphy and Kurashev are guys I could see moved at the deadline....Murphy retained will likely have some value and Kurashev with arbitration rights is someone I sell high on (assuming he is on pace for anything close to 60ish pts/82 again). Sanford and Seney are UFA's in Rockford and Saarela and Luypen are RFA's that will need to be much more productive to warrant a contract. That is 10ish spots if you don't move Murphy/Kurashev or someone else with term remaining. I can't see the Hawks being much of a player in the UFA pool beyond selectively trying to add an impact forward and maybe that gets addressed in trade where someone moves out.

Nazar, Slaggert, Dach seem like the most likely promotion candidates amongst Forwards for next year's NHL roster. It is possible a guy like Greene is good enough for NHL next year as well (3 year college player, turns 22 less than a month into the 2025-26 season) but would have to see what he looks like in a tryout basis end of year, historically BU plays deep into the NCAA Tournament.

If it helps, I don't see the Hawks signing Harding. He doesn't skate well and his game looks clunky. Plus given how he'd be a free agent at the end of the season, I don't know if he'd sign here with the logjam of LHDs ahead of him already here. I have similar concerns about the signability of Greene and Thompson as they're not far from their rights expiring and they might want to go somewhere with a less crowded path to the NHL.

I don't know what value Kurashev could bring in a trade. Yes he's relatively cheap and was productive last year, and might put up another 50-55 points this year but that's only if he plays on Bedard's wing. Is another team gearing for the playoffs going to value a player that has only produced as a wing with a top line center setting him up?

I could be wrong but from what I remember, most wings that get moved at the deadline for worthwhile returns seem to be either superstars or bigger, gritty guys that add sandpaper to a playoff roster. I'm excited to see what Murphy might bring - even with retention.

I think the Hawks would/should sign Harding. Phillips and Crevier are kind of at the end of their rope, as they're on post-ELC 1-year two way deals. I could see both/either not being qualified, allowed to go unless they can prove themselves to be NHL DMen before the 2024-25 season ends.

Promote Korchinski, Levshunov.. Del Mastro as first callup. Murphy a decent trade candidate. Maybe even Rinzel (21 years old) gets a try at it throughout the year.

Something like:

Korchinski-Jones
Vlasic-Levshunov
Allan-Brodie
Kaiser

Del Mastro, Rinzel, Harding as your AHL "prospect" DMen.

I think Forwards are a bit more log-jammish. D is only that way if they decide to go sign more veteran DMen. Connor Kelley is the guy I think they'll let walk from the D side.

I feel like the Hawks are going to try to sign Harding but I don't know why he would choose to sign here even if Phillips and Crevier leave. There are still quite a few young LHD ahead of him on the NHL roster If he waits just another few months, he can sign with any team he wants.

This. How we won 3 cups. One of the reasons......
Yep. You need a rock #1 which we had in Keith and we had two #2's in Seabrook and Hammer one you could pair with Keith and somebody who could carry a 4-5 guy like Oduya. We won in 15 with four viable NHL defenseman. The Hawks have like five guys better slash healthier in the 5-9 role today than when this team won a cup. You gotta have four rocks.
