Nazar does almost all of his scoring 5 on 5. He doesn't play PP1 instead of TJ Hughes. (Makes zero f***ing sense)
True. But I know you're aware how hot the PP1 was at the beginning of the season making it difficult to find a place for Nazar. PP1 runs through McGroarty(When healthy) and Casey. On PP2 Nazar is the man and when he got hot, it seemed as if that unit was getting more ice time. It started to grow on me seeing Nazar on PP2. Can't comment on this weekend since it's not a B10 network game.

Well they did score but they also gave up a shorty. He got almost no time on either PP.

Nazar not only did not get any points in the -3 tie with St.Cloud State (after Michigan blew a 3-1 lead) but of greater concern only generated 2 shots on goal..Not goingvo be a top goal scorer unless you put a lot more shots on net consistently..However his team got outshot 36-27 and St.Clloud State was ranked a lot higher than mediocre Michigan #14 vs.#20 for Michigan)...so I guess we should have expected they would get out-shot...So Nazar i goid co.pany with his underwhelming g teM this season.

To his credit he did finish+1 and was againn excellent on draws...So there is that aspect...he id very goid on faceoffs all season so far.

Speaking of faceoff dominator...one of tge very best I the NCAa shone again in the dot....Gabriel Seger is a 6'4 209 lb Swedish C/LW who in a 5th year Senior at Cornell which beat #1Bostin University 2-1 Saturday night night (Nov.25th) He did not get a point in this game but won 20/30 draws (he is usually 60% or better...Last season as a Jr. He won over 63% of draws for Cornell as well as being a point a game player on a team tgat is mire defensive in structure and style . THIS year he has 6 g 4a in 10GP for Cornell so on siniakrxpoibtca game pace..

So he should be a top NCAA free agen target this target by KD to solve our faceoff woes but the good size and production makes an intriguing free agent to go after (he is 24 years okd)...A more mature seasoned college guy....3 seasons at Union College tgen a transfer to Cornell i his Jr. Year last season but did not lkay in20/21 duec o no games pkayex in Covid year ...

Anyway he dominated Celebrini and Greenevin te dot in this gane....Macklin Cekebrini was just 4/21' and Ryan Greene was just 5/14 in the dot..bitcas I said Seger was 20/30 on draws ..

Moore's hockey IQ is just not that great. He's created some chances tonight but too often I watch him and he's just out of control.

Also Trey Augustine looks amazing.
At least we didn’t trade up for him I’m hoping he has his shit together after next season

Moore with a secondary assist. The tv replay(2nd) shows the play developing. Could have had another but his winger(Kurth) is not finishing his set-ups. His highlight of the game was ragging the play pretty much by himself for 40 seconds in the Michigan State zone when MSU was trying to pull their goalie.

Edit: Moore was 18-8 in the dot for the weekend.

Rinzel was taken off the 1st PP unit and after they gave up a shortie, was promptly moved back to the 1st unit. The size/skating combo of Rinzel is impressive. But he has very good hands- can stickhandle and his passing is good. Has a bit of snarl while using it smartly. He also does some PK work for Minnesota.

Holding off on forming a opinion on Levshunov for now. I know the development path is off a bit for the two but Rinzel was just as good as Levshunov in the weekend series.

I tend to agree. Rinzel has been better than Levshunov but also has way more support and is much older. He should look better.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Rinzel lately. He has so many tools.

Also yes @Larmer83 Kurth missed two open nets Friday night too.

I’ve seen a few team USA WJC projections leave Rinzel off. That would be a real shame. He’s in quite a battle for one of those spots and sounds like he’s showing pretty well.

Rinzel is two draft years ahead but only one year older.

Where have you seen any of that? Both Wheeler and Pronman have him making the team (especially with the lack of good American RHD).

Its kind of niche, but hopefully Kantserov can follow a trajectory like fellow 5'9 russian second rounder Nikita Chibrikov. Chibrikov played sparingly in KHL after he was drafted, signed after 2 years and is now a ppg player in the AHL.

Chibrikov was a better prospect than Kantserov. He was pegged as a 1st rounder.

I'm going to watch back Moore's shift by shift. He is a zone exit and entry machine, and plays great defense. But offensively he has a ton of growing to do. Could have had a point on an assist where his teammate missed the net but other than that didn't generate a whole lot even though he blows by people. A lot of out of control plays and poor decision making.

Has a great shot and pretty good hands maybe it develops for him. He certainly isn't being used in an offensive role. He did end up getting a cheapo assist in this game on a slight tap on a cross ice pass.
Cogliano is and has been my comp.

Wasn't a massive fan of the ceiling and preferred Perreault. Floors there on Moore though, feels like Cogs is his floor. His hands and shot are all much better than Cogs ever had. While having better size and honestly probably better feet which is kinda crazy.

I don't think he's 2C material though. Likely defensive checking 3C. Which is more than fine.

Cogs+ is where I've always been. But that's been my comp.

Every time I watch Rinzel I come away impressed. He is everything you want in a defenceman in today's NHL.
Yeah I would agree. His tools are that of a #1. He's huge, skates incredible, hands good, booming shot, great vision.

He even has some snarl to his game too. Saw him smoke a dude in front of the net for an after the whistle whack.

Did some more digging into ncaa faceoff prowess to compare Nazar to some potential college free agent targets whobexcell i the dot..

Frank Nazar 16P 170FOW /293 FO taken= 58%
He is currently 6th in faceoifswon ..
18.31 FO /GP is an indicator of how much they rely on hom on draws.

Could not find stats for Oliver Moore on faceoffs..(Hevis not in top 50 of faceoffs won)but dies notctakexas many draws as Nazar does.

Gabriel Seger the big 6'4 209 C (24 yrs old) 5th yr SR who plays at Cornell:

9GP 129 FOW/211FO taken = 61.1%
23.44:FO/GP
1.11 ppg is better than Nazar's 1.0625 ppg..
Seger needs to be a free agent target for KD this summer ..

Harrison Israel's C 6'2 205 Plays at Alaska-Fairbanks ...hev is a JR...(age 24)
12GP 126FOW/218FO taken = 57.8%
1.083 ppg 18.16 FO/GP
If he leaves school early this summer he too should be on KD's radar for free agents from college.

Josh Zary C 6'1 190 Soph who plays at LIU
(age 22)
14GP 125FOW/202FO taken =:61.88%
.92857 ppg 14.4285 FO/GP
Probably stays in school next sesson...Maybea target for summer 2025 or 2026 depending in when hevturbs pro.

Looking for a college free agent this summer who has more offensive talent butctill decent in the dot:

Luke Grainger C Western Michigan 5'10 181 (age 24) SR
12GP 134FOW /259 FO taken = 51.7%
1.67 ppg 21.58 FO/GP

Not exactly the most artistic goal scored by Kantserov ...looksblijecalk the other guys on the ice were strumming in the goal crease and nobody could find the puck...he circles behind the netcwhikevtyeyvarecwhackingvawayvat the puck to score or clear ...then as he comes back out front from behind the net the scrum.letscthe puck tout back to him in the low slot and he fires and scores...He really did not get nvolved much in the actual lengthy scum and why he circled the net withour the puck when others werecwhacking away in the scrum at the crease is head-scratching (should never do this) but he got lucky and puck squirtsvout to hom to firebird home...All in all the wrong habit to do i thatcsituation(shoukd becwhackibg with the others in the scrum...but he kicked out..

So good cored...BUT not the correct habit to laud

Now...what were those Ruskie play y by play broadcasters saying about an "Amerikansk"? Was this their talking about Kantseriv being drafted by Chicago or were they referring to some American player playing for one of the teams in that game?

Jiri Felcman finally played his first SL game with the Bellinzona Rockets on Tuesday. Played 17mins, including PP, won 5 of 8 faceoffs and had a primary assist in a 3-1 away win against Thurgau.

Sadly, he didn't play again for Bellinzona on Friday. I don't know why he doesn't play there more often. It's the Tigers farm after all and they have an open import slot. Not sure what's the hold up. Playing with the U20 elites is fine pre draft but post draft I think drafted players, let alone 3rd round picks, should move on. Swiss junior leagues are just not that good.
FINALLY playing for the Rockets on a regular basis, as it was announced in the summer. At least he was in the Rockets lineup the last three games. Still averaging over 17mins playing both PK and PP. Sadly no additional points but winning 24 of 44 faceoffs (54,55%) which is impressive for such a young rookie.

We'll see how long it lasts. He could be in Czechia's plans for the WJC20 after playing that November tournament. Wild season for him anyway. Kinda all over the place.
