You obviously don't watch AEW if you think that's true.

I watch Dynamite weekly. The brand is over with it's stagnant fanbase. The crowd enjoy most of the matches.

But the performers? The number of performers truly over with the fanbase you can count on one hand. Where are the reactions? Where are the pops on the entrances?

MJF is over. Bryan as well but he never made his name in AEW. Similarly, vet stars like Jericho and Sting will always get a reaction. I thought they had something good going with The Acclaimed but it cooled off. I'd say the same about FTR. Swerve is just now starting to gain a lot of traction outside of the hardcore fanbase but he's a heel. Cole was getting there too but he's injured.

Even the rest of the big names seem to get the same mediocre reaction each week. Tweeners guys like Wardlow, Moxley and Samoa Joe. You don't know if they are babyfaces or heels from one week to the next and the crowd reactions match the wishy-washy treatment of their characters. The "pillars" are highly overrated and aren't over outside of maybe Darby and he's not truly there yet either (he needs a heel turn badly to evolve his character)

Danhausen may be one of the most over performers on the roster and is rarely seen. Like our old friend Disco back in WCW, despite being a comedy act, people find Danhausen entertaining.

That's not what I'm seeing. Most of those guys plus a lot of others are definitely over with the crowd and get big enough reactions. A wrestler doesn't need to get a Stone Cold pop to be over.

No they don't, but most of these performers aren't getting anything close to that. But at the same time, that is the bar they should be aiming for. Doesn't help that their theme music generally sucks (with a few exceptions).

One of the biggest pops I've ever heard on AEW was Danhausen's surprise return a few weeks ago. It stood out.

Maybe AEW's approach is like WWE's is today, where the "brand" is the real star and who the performers are don't matter as much.
