I haven't been following NCAAF recruiting that much as ESPN has cut down on their free content but what's the top 5-10 look like.

I saw something yesterday where Oregon is killing it in California, are they top 5?

ESPN is pretty bad these days. Their recruiting coverage staff get hit hard with all the layoffs there over the years.

247 Sports is pretty much the best now a days with everything college football recruiting.

They have a composite ranking that is an average score of their rankings, Rivals’, & ESPN’s. The team rankings for currently is this:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Texas A&M
4. LSU
5. Oregon
6. Clemson
7. Texas
8. Oklahoma
9. Michigan
10. Ohio State
11. Notre Dame
12. Florida State
13. Penn State
14. Auburn
15. Washington

That whole IMG Academy just doesn't sit right with me. I can understand a private school that's reasonably local but to send your kid to what is in essence a high school for football, nah I'll pass.

It is what it is. If a kid is fine with being that far away it’s tough to really blame them as it’s basically a mini college.

It’s really no different when private schools pluck talented kids away from public schools. Can you really blame them going somewhere with better resources that will prepare them for the next level?

Thanks for the update. I'll check 247, I'm familiar with them. I guess I got used to ESPN because of Luginbill and Mcshay covering it.

I imagine by Friday we'll have a better idea of rankings.

I guess I'm just old school in that a kid should live at home through high school. The idea of sending your kid away to study "football" works for some but I'd want to be a consistent presence in their life.

It’s honestly like a college football team schedule. These kids are pretty occupied with school & football most of the day. There’s someone there pulling them along for majority of the day & they have curfews.

All their seniors graduate in the winter so they’re off to college as early enrollees.

For those of you who are catching NIU UAB late watch out for NIU's 2 DE. They're both good but the one who's getting the most hype is Sutton Smith. He's only like 225 but every time I watch NIU he's been super productive.

Ohio State reportedly in the lead for Fields.

How bout a nightmare scenario for Georgia, Fields transfers to Auburn and is allowed to play right away.

I would hope Georgia would be allowed to block it but I think his style would work well with Malzahn's offense.

Georgia and Alabama are going to finish with far and away the best classes, at least on paper.

Fields needs to become a better QB before he'd concern me at Auburn. I think the SEC would allow a block to another SEC school.

Also, UGA is in a great position to pick up a couple of kids that were big UA leans just a couple of months ago. Nakobe Dean and Trey Sanders have CB's flowing in on 247 to UGA.

I haven't seen a ton of Fields but just the fact that Auburn and Georgia play every year would make the transfer controversial.

I would think Georgia could block it but I remember there was an Alabama DB that followed Kirby to Georgia that Bama wanted to block but couldn't. I'm not sure his situation so it could be different.

Maurice Smith was a graduate transfer. Big difference there.

Fields probably has zero interest in Auburn though. He wants to transfer and play right away. Bryant is already coming in. And they have Bo Nix (#1 DT QB in 2019) already committed for the future. They also have Robby Ashford committed in the 202o cycle.

Like I said earlier, it's highly unlikely that a top level program meets the old man's demand of a guaranteed starting role.

ESPN has the top recruiting classes right now as:
  1. Bama
  2. Texas A&M
  3. Georgia
  4. Oregon
  5. Michigan
I didn't realize Michigan was doing that well. Harbaugh's usually pretty obnoxious this time of year especially if he has a good class.

He probably still has his tail between his legs after another year of ineptitude against OSU.

Noah Cain also to Penn State. I don’t think the Barkley effect can be underestimated. He’s a brand now.

The biggest win of the day imo was keeping 4* WR John Dunmore from FL. Now they don’t have to force another WR in the class if don’t want to.

They got everybody expected to sign, signed. So no surprises either way. They have 17/18 kids that are 4-5*’s.

There's still some talent out there no? Anybody on their radar?

Sanders with a Mack Wilson level troll job.

It's been a rough couple of days for Kirby and crew. Fields transfer, Ford transfer, lost Haselwood to OU, Sanders strung them along, likely not getting Dean (OM offered his brother last minute). He's going to take some serious secondary talent just to close out this class at this point. Not everyone can convince 5 star after 5 star to sit and be part of the process like Saban does. Hence why Dabo takes such small classes.
