Agreed macdonald is a disaster.but, if the kings aquire him I will begrudgingly accept him and hold on tight while hoping for the best.rather continue developing muzzin or just play amart

You want know something that is shocking about the Drew/Muzzin pairing ?

Drew has the best Corsi rating paired with Muzzin. They have ridiculous possession numbers as a pair.

Like in the 60% range, incredible.

Jake Muzzin in General has some impressive corsi #.

He is a disaster, no idea why some Kings fans would welcome that Guy.

Just keep developing Muzzin, he is young and cheaper, and miles ahead of MacDonald Defense wise.

The rumors are MacDonald is seeking 5 Million a year....That's 2 million less a year than Drew Doughty folks.

Muzzin most likely, wont even make 2.5 million on his NEXT contract.

There is a huge difference between asking and getting. Rumours had drew asking 7.5-8 and he ended upwith 7. Dean has a history of resigning players cheaper then market price. I wish dean was in charge of signing all players on every team I garente there would be alot less overpaid players out there. just look at the contacts hes signed jj drew kopitar brown quick are all signed at less then market value. 'm ot worried about his resigning price ( i ll bet aound 4 )

MacDonald at 4 Million is a Disaster contract.

I agree. DL has done an incredible job. I am not an AMAC fan and don't see him as much of an upgrade over Muzzin at this point but do think that he (AM) has more natural ability of the two.

Keeping any player we pick up isn't where I would be concerned either.

Nice to see you back around ( i haven't seen u in weeks) tg :) Are you hearing anything that you can repeat here ? anyone that isnt being talked about that you think should be?

Lucic is 25 years old though, apples to oranges. Seems like these power forwards hit the wall hard and fast, much like running backs in the NFL who are considered over the hill once they turn 30.

I remember when Shanahan hit that wall. That wall still hurts.
He was 30 in 1998 and only played another ten years or so. Pretty good numbers during those ten years for a guy on the downside....
still there were times when everyone was done with him.

There are a lot of ups and downs in a season or a career. A bad 20 or 30 game stretch doesn't ruin a career anymore than a great 20 or 30 game term makes one, imho.

Everyone debated this same thing with regher last year, dean still traded for him.there has to be some reason dean would trade for macdonald and re sign him (not for 4-5 mil I would hope.) Anyway there would have to be some reason this guy has value, that being said I don't see it.blocked shots, pp points, and horrible defensive play.

If Dean trades for him I have faith that dean will resign him for the right amount of money. In Dean i trust.

Agree. I wouldn't be thrilled, but is have to assume they know something we don't or that the kings org could mold him more, especially since they're one of the organizations reportedly focused in advanced stats

I am genuinely curious as to where the concern should be.you always have good info, so it got me wondering.

I honestly think we are trading for AM only because his cap hit is ridiculously low for a "Top" pairing Dman and can fit under our cap without any serious trades. It is the safest way by far for DL to acquire a dman without having to give up significant assets. You have to remember that Dean thinks we have all the pieces we need already, and the last thing on his mind is giving up players (especially role players, like stoll, who everyone yells to get traded but Dean loves him)

I can honestly say as a Kings fan I have no opinion of Andrew MacDonald because I don't watch Islanders games. Man that feels good.

Alex Edler would be wonderful. Wouldn't be cheap, but he's ideal for Doughty.

The rivalry between LA and Vancouver would mean it would be extra expensive. I think it does matter when dealing with the Canucks as they did not trade Schneider to Edmonton because of they are a divisional opponent even though they could have got a higher pick.

You may be right, but when teams are as consistently awful as Edmonton, or faced with such a massive need for a course correction like Vancouver, rivalries might not matter as much. Vancouver's attitude may change if the night continues to be dark and full of terrors.

I would normally agree with Vancouver due to the Schneider deal I think it matters.

I think Van becomes sellers for a quick rebuild/retool if they don't come out here hot. I think Edler would look great on this team, but similar to Gio, it may be pricey. I like Edler more than most do because I think he could turn it around, but I don't see it as realistic.

Also, we've met our foreign/non-us-college d-man quota with Voynov :P
