Can speak in general terms, officially. Max length, seven digits, kinda thing.

WRT relocation, teams usually have arrangements with moving firms. They can come in, pack everything, store it, move it, unpack. Plus transport car, etc. Companies can help with setting up utilities/services, etc. And real estate agents for purchase/lease.

I really need to figure out how to make an in road with the Sharks to help the players find a home to buy. I know at least one player went shopping this summer and got something.

I just dont understand if Tavares' main goal is to win now why he would go back to NY? They have so many holes and its not like legit goaltenders and d men are easily available, yeah they had a good draft on paper but how long are those kids away from the NHL on top of that how often do "good drafts' equal to the kids turning out as good players? Plus Lou hasnt done shit since forever, trotz is a good coach but he doesnt have offensive weapons all around like he did in DC. Other than its the place hes only known and comfort thats the only reason I can see him staying but that doesnt win you cups. By the way he has to deal with the Pens, Caps, TB, Boston and Leafs and none of those teams are going away.

Yah. The only reason he would go back to NYI is if he has some sense of loyalty to the organization. Which he really should not. They have given him crap support around him and the financial situation there was in doldrums for a while too.

Any of the other teams he is talking to (except maybe Dallas) would be much better options.

I think thats an oversimplification. Does Tavares want to wait till his early 30's (another 4 years) before he COULD have a chance to compete with NYI OR does he want to be competing right away and also on a yearly basis.

Given our record of making playoffs I think that will be our biggest selling point.

i mean its like 90% isles and the next 10% split between everyone else. Ross isnt wrong, its going to take one hell of a pitch to get him to move across the country.

I just don't know about that. Stamkos was different because he was from an organization that won from time to time and was competitive. Cannot really say the same about NYI.

If he signs with NYI it has to be more because of convenience and familiarity than anything else.

Don't read too much into those meetings. They're just publicity to drive up the prize. Most likely for the Isles. In any case, Tavares already made up his mind. I still think he's gonna stay and if not, it's gonna be either Dallas or San Jose. I don't see why he would wanna join Toronto. He just included them because of their fanbase and to get the large Canadian media going. That's my take anyway.

I just think if he had already made the decision to leave he would have been open with the Isles about it and they would have moved him at the deadline or on draft day for something. I think hes open to it, but hes looking for something to push him over the edge. He already knows all about northern california so what is that push going to be?

I have hope, I just have zero expectations

They do have a decent prospect pool and just added to that with a great draft. But it would be a long shot for sure.

It’s easy to look at things from the outside, but some of it is pretty damming. The islanders have a new GM and new coach. There’s no idea how they’re going to preform in this new environment or if they’ll get along. They have a newer ownership group. They don’t have a perminate home, only plans for a new arena. There current core is: Barzal, Eberle, Ladd, Bailey, Lee, Boychuk, Leddy, Griess. They have some solid prospects and could have a bright future but it’s not a sure thing. Obviously Tavares is familiar with all of those players and most the prospects since he’s been there.

But he has a chance to essentially make the same amount of money playing in one of the best areas in the world for a team with an arena, a supportive owner, a well regarded front office, and a core of Burns, Couture, Vlasic, Pavs, Kane, Jones, Hertl and most likely Thornton. It seems like night and day to me. But I’m just a fan.

Yah. I dont think this is going to be about $$ at all. It is going to be more about the environment/culture of the team AND area than anything else. Looking at it as neither a NYI or SJ fan, I would really be curious to know as to why he would chose NYI over SJ. I really cannot think of many things that favor NYI other than them being an east coast team (and lesser travel).
