I hate moving so much. Id take a couple mill less and stay on a losing team just not to move, im being dead serious. Unless I just throw everything away and start over again haha

Me too. That and the 8th year are good reasons for him to stay. I still think he's gonna stay and he uses those meetings as a late push to drive up his prize before signing with the Isles. But everything is possible. We'll find out soon.

Except that the team probably has employees that handle all of the logistics and what would be the cross country move. I doubt that there is much stress on the player aside from getting setup with cable and internet.

Yeah I mean you could also probably hire movers that pack your stuff too and you just sit there in your nice recliner with a margarita and tell them what to do and then make them bring it and stuff. ALSO your future teammates would love to help because you're helping them win a cup next year.

Transport is the easiest thing when you move. All the paper work and the packing/unpacking is what makes it so painful. You also have to get used to the new home and the area. It takes a while until you got everything set up, know where everything is. You have to make new friends etc. It's even more difficult if you're married or have children. It's a pain.

I think Patrick O'Sullivan had the best reply/explanation for this.
"He wants the blueprint for the organizations moving forward. These meetings aren't about where he is gonna live or who his buddies will be on the team"

My take on the situation is still very much unchanged. JT wants to win and he wants to be seen as one of the best players in the league. Without a legitimate #1 goalie the Islanders are only pitching loyalty and familiarity.

I also think the McDavid factor might be huge. Playing for the Sharks JT gets to go head to head against the new face of the league as a divisional rival. If you want to be seen as the best, you need to beat the best.

Just to clarify, can teams tell him what they will offer? Just not actually offer it? Or is money discussion off limits entirely except for the Isles

Moving services do the packing and unpacking as well if you so choose. It’s to the point where you can literally sit and have a couple of beers the whole time. It may be a pain but if Marleau uproots his family and leaves after 20 years I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a deterrent for JT. It’s a 7+ year commitment for his career. Long term success vs comfort.

I don't think McDavid is the best player. He's the best scorer but he's still a minus player against almost all teams with a strong two way Center and he's also still losing just about every important faceoff he takes. He finished his third season and I see zero progress against the puck or in terms of faceoffs. Not saying that it would be easy to be the star of a team as bad as the Oilers but I'm kinda disappointed.

I could definitely be wrong but to my understanding numbers can't be discussed at all. I mean I'm sure they do discuss numbers a little bit but as far as I know the main thing is to provide blueprints for how the team is going to be moving forward, role on the team, etc. etc.

Yeah. And in the end half of your belongings are lost or damaged. I'd also never let anybody touch my personal stuff. The bigger and heavier stuff of course...that's what those services are for...but there's stuff that isn't for everybody's eyes or fingers.

Some people like to move and do it every other year. I'm not one of them.

Fine then you pack a few of the boxes with your personal stuff. You guys are really over exaggerating the impact of a professional athlete weighing the importance of winning/career to packing boxes. It’s not that big of a deal if it’s a long term plan. JT is getting a NMC from any team that wants him

Pretty sure Patty’s family still lives here. He probably just got a condo or apartment in TO. Not much to move at all.

JT would likely actually move here with a 7 year deal and no kids.
