Player Discussion All Purpose Goaltending Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Nah.

He's had 2 poor games with us: Against Detroit and Montreal. Otherwise, he's allowed 3 or fewer goals in every appearance he's made.

Reimer has been just fine.
He's been fine for his role. But his role is smaller than what we need. Part of the reason UPL is struggling is that he's being asked to do too much. He's 9th in the league in minutes right now. That shouldn't be happening. Coming into this year, he had only gotten starters minutes for about half a season, and he's struggling with the increased usage. Having another guy who can pair with him in a 1A/1B role would be a big help.

UPL has struggled in the past when he was underused and couldn't get into a rhythm.

Levi has struggled with that, as well.

The challenge will be finding that right balance where the two of them are busy enough to stay sharp while not being overused.

Does anyone else have a feeling that UPL's days in Buffalo are numbered?

Not playing well this season. Reimer getting a bunch of starts.

I wonder if his friend, Jokiharju, dragged him down this season.

Nah. I think UPL is solid here for at least another year unless someone blows us away with a trade offer.

And Reimer getting 3 out of the last 4 is just Lindy rewarding Reimer......Reimer has been EXCELLENT in his last 3 starts.

There was a stretch this season where it looked like UPL was finally returning to his form of last year (most of November and the late part of December)......but I think Ruff just flat-out overused him before the 4 Nations break and he never recovered.

My opinion? I agree - Maybe one more year. I think they want Levi up. But I still don’t think UPL is the answer. (Levi may bot be, either.)
