I mean they did get some draft picks![]()
They don't even have their second-round pick from us anymore; they gave it to the Bruins for Frederic.
Hey, at least they still have their Holloway compensatory for now?

They still have Paul Fischer too, fwiw. It was a 2nd, 3rd, and Fischer for Broberg and Holloway. Easy money. They don't even have their second-round pick from us anymore; they gave it to the Bruins for Frederic.

Loved Frank, but I agree with you. Vlady could be a floater, Holloway is proving to be anything but.I’m probably the Lone Ranger here, but I’d take Holloway over Tarasenko all day long. I just like his style better. Holloway, Neighbors and Bolduc are adding an element of grit we havenr had in a while. This team is really adopting an identity now.
Wouldn't it be so hilarious if he went through all four years of college and didn't sign the ELC with the Oilers? They still have Paul Fischer too, fwiw. It was a 2nd, 3rd, and Fischer for Broberg and Holloway. Easy money.
He did. When he felt like it.

I was actually just thinking about this the other day. Next season will be really fun with the Olympics. I’m definitely gonna be rooting for Canada again.
Let’s see him consistently do it for a few years before we cross this bridge. The kids a stud and should continue to be, but I’m not ready to agree to this phrase just yet.I’m probably the Lone Ranger here, but I’d take Holloway over Tarasenko all day long.

I'm a Strick fan but he's being a homer here. There are just too many good Canadian players for all three of those guys to make the team. If one makes it that's a pretty good accomplishment.
I don't think saying someone is on the watch list is being a homer. That's like saying he's a homer if he says Parayko deserved consideration for a norris nomination before he got injured. Just in case anyone is wondering, he certainly did deserve nomination consideration.
I just thought it was funny that in one of the post-debacle pressers he gave, Bowman was like “this 5th rounder we got back is my best friend from Chicago, I’ve known him from the womb.”Wouldn't it be so hilarious if he went through all four years of college and didn't sign the ELC with the Oilers?
...I'm a petty bitch, aren't I?![]()
Not to mention Tarasenko never had a high end playmaker on his line. Dude got it done with Lehtera, non prime stastny and Schenn. While I agree with you that Kaprizov is another level above Tarasenko, let's not forget that when Vladi scored 40 goals very few players around the league did. Last year 15 guys had 40 goals and a handful more were just below that. Tarasenko's peak came during a less offensive period in the NHL so you have to take that into account.
I'm not sure I'm buying your last paragraph about Tarasenko though. He might have had a prickly and moody personality but I never questioned his desire to win. I'm not gonna believe that he put his own stats over the team's success. It takes time for young players to get it, so I'm sure Tarasenko (and Kaprizov) were no exceptions to that.
Yeah the Blues are not sending 3 forwards to Team Canada. I like Kyrou - he has no shot of making that team. He’s not more skilled than the high end forwards nor does he have the grit/ two-way game that gets less skilled guys on the roster. Maybe Holloway gets a serious look for that very reason, but I’d still be surprised if he were to make it.I'm a Strick fan but he's being a homer here. There are just too many good Canadian players for all three of those guys to make the team. If one makes it that's a pretty good accomplishment.
I agree on Thomas/Suzuki, but two other small factors to consider. This isn't a zero sum games since the olympic roster is 25 vs the 23 for the 4 Nations, so you're automatically getting another forward on the roster. Also have to have names in the hole for injuries.Sure I guess it depends on how many guys they consider. If they consider 50 or so players, then sure they might get consideration. To me, only one of Thomas or Suzuki will make it at most and that's not an easy call to make.
As for the Norris, sure Parayko deserves some votes but as much as I love him he's not at Hughes, Werenski or Makar's level. I would love for the players to vote on a best defensive d-man award however, because the Norris doesn't really reward players like that. That would be really interesting, but only the players are qualified to make that call.
And another 3rd…but not until 2028.They still have Paul Fischer too, fwiw. It was a 2nd, 3rd, and Fischer for Broberg and Holloway. Easy money.
Paul Fischer and the 2028 3rd was buttpaste. And another 3rd…but not until 2028.
•2025 2nd for Broberg (which they’ve already traded to Boston)
•2025 3rd for Holloway
Then to sweeten the pot we also sent:
•Paul Fischer
•2028 3rd
Still a very good deal. I’d really like to hear the story of the back and forth that week where Army was able to get them to not match the offer sheets by adding Fischer and a 3rd to the package..
Kyrou's production is nearly identical when he plays with Holloway or Buch. All numbers at 5 on 5:During his prime he did not have the determination like Holloway does. If he did, he would have been #1 and not #7. I loved and still do love Tarasenko but if Holloway is a 25-30 goal scorer that puts up near 40 assists, I will happily take him over Vladdy. He makes everyone around him better, shit just look how much better Kyrou is with him.
Agreed, both Holloway and Kyrou have skills that complement each other, it's not that either one is carrying the other.Kyrou's production is nearly identical when he plays with Holloway or Buch. All numbers at 5 on 5:
With Holloway: 1.27 goals per 60 and 2.52 goals per 60.
With Buch: 1.19 goals per 60 and 2.59 points per 60. Last season, Kyrou's numbers with Buch were 1.38 goals per 60 and 2.3 points per 60.
Kyrou is chugging along with production right in line with the past several years. He had 22 goals at 5 on 5 in each of the last 3 seasons and is currently at...22. In the previous 3 seasons he's had 28, 20, and 22 assists at 5 on 5. He's at 20 right now. His 75 games played has already surpassed his games played in 1 of those 3 seasons.
Kyrou's defensive improvement was noticeable before the two of them got put together as well. I'm not saying to split them up. I love the two of them on the ice together. There is chemistry and the speed of both players is difficult on opponents, but Holloway isn't making Kyrou better. Kyrou is being Kyrou.
I think that all 3 will get consideration for the Olympic team, but being over point per game isn't enough to get you on that roster. And FWIW, I don't see them as locks to be point per game. Holloway is at 22 points in the 19 games since 4 Nations and Kyrou is at 18. I'm not ready to extrapolate this hot streak to a full season.Thomas, Holloway, and Kyrou will all be over a Point Per Game next year. Bolduc and Neighbours will both be 25+goal scorers. I can not wait to see next season's team. Especially if we have 3 lines that can all produce.
I wasn't talking about the Olympics, just excited for next season.I think that all 3 will get consideration for the Olympic team, but being over point per game isn't enough to get you on that roster. But let's assume that we can.
There are 13 Canadian forwards that are over point per game with 50+ games played this year. Canada had success at the 4 Nations by building a 4th line with a focus on grit/defensive guys. All of Jarvis, Bennett, Cirelli, and Konecny are below point par game. Each will have a real chance to come back for the Olympics. I think there is a real argument that Thomas and Holloway could be considered to play the style/role Canada looks for out of the 4th line, but Kyrou certainly doesn't.
I think all 3 have a shot to make the team, but they still have a lot to prove to get to that point. It would be absolutely awesome to see them all play well enough to bring an all STL 3rd or 4th line to the Olympics though.
If you have a rash, that stuff is gold.Paul Fischer and the 2028 3rd was buttpaste.
Hell yeah! I prefer Gold Bond Overnight, but Butt Paste is great stuff. If you have a rash, that stuff is gold.
