There actually could have been a chance this time, had a solid structure already been in place and Bronfman was ready and waiting to pounce on the opportunity. Manfred very openly likes Montreal quite a bit and would probably be willing to facilitate it, but you need a project well in place to begin with.

I remember the Expos first pennant race, a .600 team losing the division title on last game of season in '79. Pirates went to win World Series.

Montreal a .600 team with a great farm system. It looked so rosy. During winter meetings they traded a fringe southpaw pitcher for Ron LeFlore. What a steal the baseball world claimed. It was another Stan Papi for Bill Lee trade Montreal radio was comparing it to. The team of the '80s it looked like. Little did we know we never stole LeFlore. Tigers dumped him instead. He had cocaine addiction and brought that trouble to Montreal. It infected many stars. Which was part of Montreal's downfall.

This stadium is one of the biggest mysteries to me.

It looks ugly, but it also looks like nothing else, and sometimes I feel like the exterior looks kinda good, but again its still ugly at the same time.

This shot looks like its not even planet earth.

It's definitely unique, especially with all the new stadiums looking very samey, to me at least.

The big ''owe'' ugly inside, from above it was neat. I got a lot of pictures ( slides ) from when Montreal was having huge construction and every once in a while, we'd fly over the sights, Mirabel airport, the 13 the Olympic areas etc.
The loss of the Expos was such a shame and it was a sad day for Montreal. I had fond memories of them and the baseball program I was in and they would get some of the players, coaches and management to our practices from time to time and remember Ron Piché telling me to not throw breaking balls as it would deform my arm. Only pitched a little and mostly played SS. Biggest baseball thrill was getting a chance to play some ball in Dodger stadium.

I'm always surprised to see Vidro come to Montreal for these events... I always thought he didn't like the city. I guess it was just his personality that made me think that.

I don’t have great memories of him based on how he behaved off the field. He seemed arrogant and entitled to me so him coming back to Montreal is indeed unexpected.

When he signed his longterm deal w Expos he said “his family felt safest & most accepted in Mtl compared to other American cities” always stick with me

The Latinos really enjoyed living & playing in Mtl
