Why players didn’t take their pay
If the NHL doesn’t play the playoffs in 2019-20, it’s going to have a massive impact on league revenues. Talk in hockey circles is the damage will likely fall somewhere between $1 billion and $1.2 billion.
Because players’ pay is tied directly to hockey-related revenues in a given season through the escrow system, they will be significantly impacted by that drop — regardless of the dollar value on their contract.
A $1.1 billion shortfall, for example, would mean more than 20 percent of NHL revenues weren’t realized, which makes sense given TV contracts will have to be redefined and gate revenues for 15 percent of the regular season and all of the postseason would be lost.
Mommy, I have always wanted to be sick as a dog for two weeks.

You wonder, however, if all 31 NHL teams will be able to remain solvent long term in this environment. There is already talk of some owners feeling strain, after a little more than a month, given what’s happened to the markets and many of their businesses across North America.
What happens if revenues crater further and owners want out? How profitable will some of these teams be if there is no gate revenue, even if player salaries come down dramatically? The reality is that the NHL is far more vulnerable in this situation than the NBA, NFL and MLB, who pull a far higher percentage of their revenues from massive television deals.
For now, the primary hope at the league level is that they can get back to playing games in neutral-site locations this summer, which would allow them to fulfill their television and sponsorship deals and ease the revenue shortfall as best they can for 2019-20. Then they’ll worry about 2020-21 and beyond after that point.
I despise parents who bring their <10 yr olds to a rally, holding a sign with something the parent thinks. I hate parents who are able to act like their <10 yr old kid is able to reasonably come up with a "Mr. XY can keep his poison" quote. Disgusting people who are using a kid to push their opinion.
Finally finished reading that Athletic piece. Bottom line is the league, and the players, really need to have the playoffs this summer.
Try to remember that this parent is convinced that they're doing right by their child.
I've become more sympathetic to people who are anti-vax. Their movement is unquestionably ridiculous, but I understand some of the motivation for decision to act. There are reasons to be upset with the healthcare system the multitude of anti-vaxxers are just poorly informed and threw their energy into propping up a conspiracy theory.

I agree, I don’t like when either side does it. I think it’s highly irresponsible.I despise parents who bring their <10 yr olds to a rally, holding a sign with something the parent thinks. I understand the motivation and usually try not to ridicule their opinion (which may sound ironic given some of my sarcastic posts on HF) - but using my child as a mean to push what I feel is incredibly despicable
I know I'm generally more on the sarcastic side, but I'm legitimately curious on this one, and my work PC wont allow me to open the article for some reason -- Trump was quoted sometime last week that the crisis response was on the states, right? So following that logic, wouldn't it stand to reason that Hogan should be applauded for not causing a 'drain' on the federal government, and attempting to manage the crisis on his own, at the state level?
I do remember that those parents are convinced they're doing right by their child...by defying and denying overwhelming scientific evidence and selfishly pushing their own outlandish and harmful agendas with no regard for others or their childrenI've become more sympathetic to people who are anti-vax. TESTING ON MOBILEI JUST POSTED A COMMENT WITHOUT THE THING HAPPENING
It was a joke...
I'm not going to read the articles because of how everything from the President is flip flopping so much. Whatever was said will be different in a month.
There should be jail time for that if he survivesGeorge Stephanopoulos Walking in the Hamptons After COVID-19 Diagnosis
He was apparently found walking the neighborhood, walking his dog, and walking around his local pharmacy. All with no mask and within the 14 day quarantine.
I still have to refresh
The way I read it a second time makes it seem like he waited until he was already into his quarantine period before announcing that he tested positive. Meaning he was beyond his quarantine period before going out. There should be jail time for that if he survives
