All Purpose Arizona Thread

I know this is going to be controversial, but I'm a Utah fan now. I followed the team, not the jersey they wore. A new Arizona team in 10 or 20 years might not win me back.

Edit: A comment that I wouldn't dare post on the old forum lol.

I'm actually the same way, and it's a bit different for me because I don't live in Arizona anymore, and I don't see myself moving back any time soon, if ever.

If/when another team comes along, I'll follow them with interest, but I'd imagine they'd start as my #3 team by default. Then I'll just follow my heart for how what would then be how my three teams (Utah #1, Tampa Bay #2, Arizona #3) would sort themselves out as far as rooting interest goes.

Appears your home is Scottsdale, AZ. and unfortunately your take is all too common for Az. residents and why I think anyone would be foolish to attempt putting another team here.

I bought Utah stuff and I'll root for them, but it won't be as 'passionate' ("they played tonight? oops. meh, whatever...") ...and by the time they ever get a team back here 1) I'll be Dirty Really Old Man, 2) who knows where i'll be living, and 3) probably none of the former Coyotes will be Mammoth...

Some of my passion is also gone. Utah's still my #1 team, but it's as if a fire went out in me.

I'm hoping BA rekindles these flames with the right moves by the end of the month
I'm an Arrowhead Lakes Glendale AZ resident, we just moved here from Grayhawk in Scottsdale AZ, we've been in the valley for twelve years now, although we're originally from British Columbia Canada. The Mammoth aren't my favorite childhood team, I'm in my late 50's, I followed the Coyotes because the team was in our city, even though they were terrible for most of the time we've been here. As time goes by I think you'll see more and more AZ residents fall by the wayside in terms of being a fan of the Mammoth. They'll build their own fanbase in SLC.

Now that they're gone, I'm kind of still following because I want to see how the whole rebuilding process goes, to see if it works out for them, I'm a huge proponent of rebuilding, that's how you win Cups in a cap world in my opinion, and I really like some of the kids they've picked. But I don't own once stitch of Utah Mammoth paraphernalia.

@Arizonatah I don’t want to derail the team name thread so I’ll ping you here instead.

Did you ever hear of a pizza place in Pine called Old County Inn? It’s the best pizza I’ve ever had in the state of Arizona. By the time I moved away in the winter of 2019-20 it felt like it had gotten a bit too big and popular for its own good, however, and was always extremely busy (usually with out of town people) unless you went there during a very off peak time (such as a weekday during the winter).

Tried going there the last time I visited family in Payson in the summer of 2022. Heard it was closed due to a wildfire, only to find out after I had come back home that it was, in fact, open while I was there. How disappointing. :(

Yeah. It's still there and still packed with flatlanders all the time. And it's still really good too! In a small town that seems to have trouble with restaurants going BK, it's nice to see. I've never eaten at the restaurant itself, but we pick up pizzas to take home quite often when we're up there.
