The obvious answer here is to trade Quick for Stamkos, Scrivens for Keith and Jones for Tavares, get some serious firepower, and go with Berube since the goalie position is irrelevant because of our impenetrable D in front of it.

My strategy cannot fail, and will lead to multiple Cups.

Indeed. In fact, **** goalies. Let's just use one of these babies:

Save some cap space with that.

@Cassy87

You've been going about your whole argument the wrong way this entire time.

Let me spell it out for you: The play of Jonathan Quick in net led them to the Cup. It wasn't that the team or the defense was bad ::drumroll:: it was because the team couldn't score a goal to save their lives!

IMHO tonite is a defining moment for Jones. If he comes out as awesome against the Sharks as he has been in his first six outings, he becomes more and more part of this team's immediate future and Scrivens becomes available for a trade to a team that is struggling between the pipes (Calgary, Florida, Ottawa, etc.).

So is he a flash in the pan or more of a safe bet.

Personnaly I think he is solid :yo:

Even then we don't trade Scrivens unless it is an overpayment. Let's just look to our basketball cousins who share our building. Kobe goes down last year just comes back plays 6 games and is back out 6 more weeks. Better to keep the barn full until next year with both of these guys.

Jones - better than Quick?

Look, I know it's heresy.

I know Quick has a Cup.

I know Quick is playoff proven.

I know I have probably had one too many Tanqueray and tonics tonight.....

But for those of you who DVR'd the game tonight vs. San Jose....you gotta go back to that save at 16:27 of the third period. All positioning....impeccable....it was a bang-bang play where he just positioned himself for the save....he didn't even have to move.

He's like Quick....without the brain farts.

Either way, I'm well aware of how lucky we are.

No. Teams will get the book on him, he'll taper off. Enjoy it while it lasts and all that. Nice to have him under team control for a while. Won't have to look for a backup next year. May be able to trade Scrivens for an asset.

The Kings won the Cup by playing some of the best defensive hockey in any playoff season, and their overall dominance in possession & shots attempted was higher than at any time since those numbers started to be tracked.

Quick didn't carry the Kings to anything in 2012, or 2013. There has never, not once, been a time in Quick's NHL career where he wasn't regularly playing behind a very good defense.

If Quick had Bernier's numbers behind that exact same defense, we don't make the playoffs. Bernier had he same defense to play behind and had a save percentage 20 points lower and allowed just under half a goal against more per game. And as the backup, odds are he was facing weaker teams than Quick. And no one is saying Bernier is some bum, he was a solid goalie that year. Without Quick, we're golfing in April.

.....and more praise for Jones: http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/nhl...-fowler-takes-flight-for-ducks-214023663.html

"He played with Marc Crawford’s son growing up, and Crawford coached the Kings from 2006-08. Crawford told Ranford about him."

Whaaaaaaat? We have Marc Crawford to thank for the Kings signing Jones? Shut the front door!!

No, we thank our scouts. Crawford may have suggested they pay more attention to him but the scouts seen smething in him no other team did considering he wasn't even drafted.

Uhh what book? He's tall and takes a big part of the net. It's what made him successful.

Yes, and they also have no idea what his weaknesses are. Eventually teams will figure it out. Then it will be on him to adapt, and I have every confidence he will given how he's played so far.

It isn't as if Jones just came over from europe.

He spent 3 or 4 years down in the A.

I'm sure there are a lot of scouting on him.

Jones is just very streaky.

Yeah, I don't think he has any big weaknesses that our defense can't cover. He covers the net and covers a lot. And hey doesn't over react a lot so our good defense helps him easily. I'm sure his stats will be very good, but I don't expect him to be as different as you make him sound to be.

Did you read the post that I was responding to? I'll quote it.

Exactly. The Worcester Sharks have played Martin Jones many, many, times!

Your also right about Jones being streaky. I watch a lot of Monarchs games and Jones' biggest issue has always been consistency. He came into the AHL very strong making the all-star team in his rookie season. But, then the consistency issues crept in. There was even a point last season that he briefly lost his starting job to Peter Mannino. However, when Mannino went down with an injury Morris started playing Jones EVERY game. From that point on Jones has been awesome! Jones was the key reason behind the Monarchs miracle run last season to make into the playoffs. Has excellent in the playoffs despite the first round exit, was great this season in Manchester, and now has been off the charts in LA!
