Here is a post I made in another thread with some quotes from their goal tending coach:

Jones said:
“I had to prepare, either way, so I was able to prepare for the start of the game,” said Jones. “You prepare the same way for every game. You have to be ready to play, all the time.”
“You can’t afford to come to a game unprepared,” added Jones. “These things happen, whether it’s coming in, halfway through a game, or a last-minute switch. You’ve got to prepare the same way for every game. You can’t afford to throw away points because you’re not prepared to play.”
Sutter said:
Scrivens was a little dinged up and he didn’t feel right in warm-up
Scrivens said:
Whoever plays—that’s a coaches’ decision, so I’ll leave it at that

But Scrivens has been criticized a bit by head coach Darryl Sutter recently, for a drop-off in his play, which apparently played into the decision to give Jones the nod in their last two games. But Sutter never really elaborated on his criticism.
Bill Randford said:
“Movements, no delay in his post-save, having rhythm to the game, just the habits of what you do to get into your spots, [such as] edge control,”
Randford said:
It’s no different from when Ben was put into the situation to become our number one guy,” Ranford elaborated. “He won three or four in a row, and [I told him that] it’s not about winning. You have to realize that you have to be ready to go for the long haul. It’s not about ‘look what I’ve done now.’ It’s what you need to do to make yourself a consistent and reliable goalie in this league, and if you want to be a number one guy, and have the confidence of your organization, you have to have that consistency, and that detail in your game every night.
FrozenRoyalty.net said:
Ranford indicated that Scrivens’ attention to detail was lacking just a bit prior to their lackadaisical 2-1 loss to Calgary on November 30.
“It was probably previous to that,” said Ranford. “I don’t think [his skills] were necessarily starting to slip. There just wasn’t as much detail, and you don’t want it to snowball. I think he’s on the upswing again, and that’s where we need him to be.”

My grandma is 100% Japanese. She loves Ichiro. I've never asked her if she knows about the greatest hockey player ever but I shall ask her. And if she doesn't know, I'll tell her. #AllHailTheFujiman

Oh man I forgot Kopitar was around when Fukufuji was playing. Man I bet he has PTSD from those years of being a king :sarcasm:

Can anyone tell me why Frattin has looked so bad in a kings uniform? He was great for us last year before he got injured (10 points in 10 games). He looked brutal after the injury though.

He very swiftly racked up a slew of -'s while skating on the left side of a (defensively) rusty Richards and Carter. Management realized they had miscast him. He was demoted, briefly dropped, but came back as the 3/4 RW and played outstanding for about 4 games before being injured. It's been back to sqaure one since.

I really, really like his good games. His bad ones he's mostly just invisible. I still have hope for him, but he'll need to be content with being #4 on our RW depth chart.

He seems like a player who does better playing in the open ice than along the boards, which isn't a fit for this team or its' coach. With Carter, Williams & Toffoli cemented as RW's, he's not going to be able to play his natural position, or he's going to get 4th line minutes which isn't putting him in the right role either. He's an RFA after this season, and makes $875K / yr, so I'm not sure what his future is with this team. It's disappointing for sure, because he had a great training camp, and back then, he was seen as a replacement for Dustin Penner. We're not halfway through the season, but that swap is looking like a dud so far.

You hope there are lot of goalie injuries near the trade deadline (sans Kings) , Scrivens nets you 3rd round pick, you trade him and then recall Jones.
Need to try to parlay the Bernier trade into an even higher return.

It is very important to always role three deep in goal with NHL caliber goalies in case of injury. Now we know for sure we have that. Unfortunately, this means Jones gets sent back. The current state of our defense that last two years thrives on stay at home goalies (read Bernier, Scrivens, and Jones) vs Quick, who is a bit more scrambly. The numbers that last two years bear that out. The X factor is Quick's ability to go into beast mode in the playoffs. If he could do that with consistency in the regular season, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

To defend Quick he was playing hurt/rusty a bit last year coming off off-season surgery. This season we're talking only 16 games, so a small sample size and his numbers aren't great, but they are better than last season.

The Scrivens Dilemma

It's becoming increasingly clear the Kings do not intend to keep Scrivens past this season.

Let's say Quick gets healthy and plays well. Jones gets sent down while Scrivens backs up for the meantime. Do you trade Scrivens at the deadline for, let's say a second- or third-round pick, or do you keep both goalies in case Quick gets hurt again and risk losing Scrivens for nothing?

Discuss. I'm torn between the two.

Scrivens played a whopping 32 games before coming to LA. Jones played 0 but has been in our system and earned his call up, even if it was due to an injury. Trade Scrivens and Frattin in all honesty. Terrible trade. Just keep the pick and bail on the rest.

b4 the season started, was listening to xm and they mentioned (from mayors manor I believe) that the professor would not last the season in LA. That said, it would be great to get pick for him. Not sure he will garner a 2nd though. This trade looks more like a salary dump unless DL can turn the 2nd into another gem.

The bolded.

Having the additional insurance of winning the cup means more than a 2nd or 3rd pick imo.
