Hope this loss gives them what they need to learn to be better against Vegas and Hill. This is almost guaranteed as a first round matchup and I would bet on Vegas at this point. This team has the potential to beat them in a series but they refuse to play how they need to to handle how Vegas D and Hills goaltending work together. It’s a lesson they have to learn or it’s a first round out. They can do it, they just have to figure out how.
Unless the frauds in first get that insane horseshoe up their behinds out of it, it is 99% us and Vegas lol. Unless LA has some big huge bump

Oil should be making their moves to best Vegas. We can anyways. We were up every game last series with a worse roster chemistry wise

Vegas is good at protecting the net, but people go overboard. How did Edmonton have the possibility of 4/5 goals tonight by the end of the second if they are so elite and perfect right

Hill is not going to keep putting up what he puts up

Honestly...Drai has been the most frustrating player to me this year. Usually, every once in a while, he has that lazy game in a streak of like 10-15 good games, but this year it's almost like he's more disinterested and lazy than usual. He's had long stretches this year where he's borderline the worst player on the team with how bad he's played and then in other games he's an absolute unit all game and is taking the game over. It feels like it's been more 50/50 this year with him being lazy Leon half the games and Panzer Leon the other half.
Gives puck up does a quick shoulder check and shrug hoping someone else back checks and covers up for his mistake has been his MO this entire season. When there is zero consequence to it its gonna continue to be a big part of his game and its utterly irritating.

Every stat reflects it even when they aren't tracking stuff like "oh somebody passed the puck back to Ceci at the point and it bobbled over his stick."

Ceci boggling the puck out from the blue line after the oilers hem the knights in for 2 mins, screening Skinner resulting in the 2-1 goal, taking a slapper that goes around the knights end, etc.

Nurse has been played fine. I would easily say that getting an upgrade on Ceci not only solidifies the back end, it also helps Nurse. Ceci needs to be traded asap.

Posts like this are pathetic. Drai was making plays all over the ice and stripped what would have been another GA late in the game with solid backchecking. He was heavily marked, as was McD, and pairing them as game progressed was a mistake this time.

But its always Drai to some people.

We lose this game because of Adin Hill and being goalied again. Which isn't a mirage as Adin Hill is a better goalie than Stu Skinner everytime he faces him. lol at the broadcast all day trying to sell this as some premium goalie matchup. If Skinner was in Vegas net we score 7 goals tonight.
I mean to you it’s never Drai lol.
Some people are being way to hard and pile on every chance they get on him.

That said Drai made a lot of dumb plays tonight and straight up gave up on others. It was a rough night from him. Not end of the world like people making it seem.

Realistically this might have been what they need. If this doesn’t spark some form of need to figure it out then I don’t know what will.

Need to play simple and take shots.

That said they are missing Eichel and Theodore, with those 2 back I’m not sure how this game would look.
Good teams beat good teams. We can all hate Vegas as much as we want but have to acknowledge they are good.

Analyze, adjust, and figure out how to beat these guys.

Hopefully this is just fuel to McDavid fire. Someone get drai some smelling salts though. That game was woof

What??? Hill was the best goalie in the playoffs last year and is the best goalie in the league this year. Vegas puts up a concrete wall in front of him, but when it breaks down, he makes every save. The guy is a vacuum on any loose change. Vegas taught us some lessons last year. Unfortunately, they aren't finished with the teaching.
Doesn't make every save lol we just have to work harder in front of net

Oil played a really good game. Could have gone either way just got caught on a situational coverage mistake that rippled to leave a shooter open. Lots to be really happy about this game. Team defending was really good.

Corey Perry knows the extra level required to play at to compete and win Cups. Oil went toe to toe with a steeled playoff team and Cup winner who defended hard and disciplined all night. Gotta find the extra small percentages to get over the top. Frustrating they left too many prime scoring opportunities in their bag.

Some clear eyes will be needed to monitor Line 2 RW for deadline upgrade (secondary); top 4 RD (primary need); and I think a 4C with some size watching these two end of roster lines go at it tonight.

Honestly I think it's more that we tend to get cute instead of get into a Goaltenders grill. Need 11 forwards to take a lesson from Score-y Perry.
Oh I agree. We seem to take a few games off consistently where we don’t crash the paint

Several times tonight we had the chance to just pound it on net.

When a goalie is dialed in you need to create your own chaos. We seem to forget that goals can be scored of rebounds and deflections

Hill is just better than Skinner.

That's all she wrote.
and not even close. The local media and the broadcast are constantly trying to tell us Skinner is some kind of goalie superstar now, "best in league" and the reason for the 16G win streak. The articles by Tychkowski and others laughable. The Oilers have been playing stellar hockey and giving up very little. They got 10 better scoring chances than Vegas got and lost. The reason being the usual reason we come up short against Vegas.

Trouble is if the Oilers are serious about a SC win it needs to be a goalie add. Skinner ain't getting us there. Anybody catch his f*** up with the puck with 3mins left in a 2-1 game. Thats the kind of play that was ending up in his net in playoffs. His team mates are saving him.

I think he's mostly commenting on the chorus of Drai criticism tonight.
Draisaitl was pure garbage outside of PK shift in the first 2 periods. He seemed much better in third with some nice takeaways and passes.

Bouchard was frustrating as heck in the third. Puljuarvi would have made smarter plays .

Brown and Ceci were consistent once again. Consistently useless.

Drai being slow and disinterested at times if he converts on his chances in his kill zone doesn’t bug me much. But Drai not finishing and being slow and dumb, that bugs me a lot.

Otherwise it was a good game by most. Vegas just converted on their couple chances. We didn’t convert on jack s**t.
Drai is the captain of the slow start brigade. Lucky he has less followers since knobloch took over.

Without even checking on the board I figured it was that. Imagine Leon Draisaitl being a scapegoat. It seldom fails when a result doesn't go our way. You could look at any player on ice but one and there were mistakes. Except one. Adin Hill. He was gold.

People that are down on DRai all the time should have to see this team without him. Good luck with that.

I'll appreciate great players while we have them.

Fleury is our ace in the hole. I’m fairly certain he would go supernova against the Knights in the playoffs with the way they treated him.

Gitter done Holland!

Hate to say it but yup this is correct, 0 trust in Skinner, his rebound control is garbage

It’s not sad!!! The more the flames win the more they roam around 10th to 12th place and continue to never get a true game breaking player. I say keep it rolling Lamers
Well they got Kuzmenko and Huberdeau seems to be waking up. We just lost a 4pt game. Hopefully Knob rips into some of the players.

So the defending Stanley Cup Champs aren’t the better team? The Oilers don’t have a huge challenge playing them in the playoffs? You’re a pigeon who adds nothing
They are great, but the Oilers got up on them in every single game and Gary's cronies changed the standard in game 5 to fellate them into that comeback

Our PK is elite right now, unlike limpcrofts

We still generate chances against Vegas and got goalied

Our defensive play is better than last year. Miles better

Team overall is better and will upgrade soon

It's not the mountain people are talking about

We blew that series last year

Two things scare me

They incompetent refs who ignore very blatant calls against our star player

Hill having a giant lucky coin stuck up his rear end
