Is he "in our heads" or just plain good?

Because no one seems to piss a drop against him. He shut out Vancouver this year too. He shut out Colorado too (41 save shut out).

This season Adin Hill

1.000 save percentage versus Vancouver
1.000 save percentage versus Colorado
0.968 versus Edmonton
0. 946 versus Dallas
0.947 versus NYR

If this is some kind of weird heater he's on since last spring, I've never seen anything like this in decades of watching this sport. Even Cam Ward and Binnington cooled off considerably after their miracle Cup runs.
I’d be curious to see where Vegas stands in the league at giving up high danger chances, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them near the top of the league. They don’t seem to give up much for good chances. They certainly bring their best game against us every time.

They seem to be very good at thwarting grade A chances in the slot.

Our 4th line looked great last night, although I like the idea of Mcleod going back with Drai and Foegele.

Right? We played a hard fought game and deserved number 17. Hill was outstanding and is obviously in the players heads at this point. I do agree we could stand to upgrade Ceci though. Give me Paryko god dammit lol
i think if there wasnt a streak on the line and penalties could hurt us a lil more than usual perry goes right through hill. come playoff time he will

I'm hoping that this loss shows them they still need to further modify their game to be a contender.

With Knob they've undergone phase one of the transformation: They're completely bought in defensively.

Now comes part 2, they need to start playing with authority and simplicity. Too many over-passing moments, too many perimeter stop-ups. Drive the f***ing net, take away the goalies eyes and cram home a rebound. Hopefully Perry can get that in their minds.

Sometimes it seems like they only thing they can score fancy goals.

To a certain extent Vegas are in the Oilers heads. I think thats especially true with Draisaitl.

It also seems to me that Vegas has a specific game plan to just throw random pucks from the point at Skinner's pads, not even intending to score but fishing for a rebound or scramble play where one of their forwards get lost in coverage and is able to bang home the puck.

They've been doing it non-stop since the playoffs last year to us, and it generally is good for a goal per game for them. They got another one doing that last night (Skinner rebound, forward uncovered for a second, bang goal).

We gave them very little offensively last night, but that strategy still pays dividends for them.

They've obviously scouted us well and zeroed in on this as a weakness they exploit.

It's a weakness for every team in the league, hence why pucks on net with traffic has always been a viable strategy. Box-outs are missed, guys can just whack away for rebounds and bounces happen. Only real way to defend it is to be like CAR and just completely stifle shot generation.

Oilers don't play this way however, but other teams will always do this against them. It's just the simplest way in the NHL to generate offense.

The number of posters in this thread who I haven't seen in a month making posts about how much better Vegas is than we are is too damn high.

I used to hand wave away the people who complained about complainers but my god guys we just won 16 f***ing games in a row.
They’ve been waiting for over a month to vent their negativity. Good time to add a few to the ignore list. ;)

I noticed this as well. Skinner was good last night but they definitely know his weaknesses.

I woke up thinking the loss might actually be a good thing in the long run. Seeing Vegas celebrate like that and getting a reminder of the feeling from last years playoff exit might be the fuel this team needs to get past them this year.

Is this thread really now arguing that point shots looking for rebounds is some secret magic formula Vegas has discovered to score on us and not the primary way teams in the NHL have generated offense for the last 30 years?
Not just point shots it’s pretty clear their game plan is just get pucks on net and crash because the goalie gives out a lot of rebounds. No it’s not some new secret magic formula but you are naive if you think it isn’t happening.

I prefer Nurse developing a chemistry with Desharnais instead of us going after Paraykos of NHL.
Ceci-Kulak can handle bottom pairing duties and have chemistry from previous years
Just No. Ceci can at least carry the puck out. Desharnais is still the weakest Dman - near zero offensive abilities

I'm open to trading Kulak out for cap space to upgrade a spot higher in the lineup, but if the team isn't willing to do that then the bottom pairing should just be left alone.

It's working.

Which is fine. Give Nurse more room to jump up and bumps Ceci down to a more comfortable level.

Are you trying to torpedo VDs game?
Nope.. just testing him out before we give up a boat load for a top 4 RD

Or just upgrade Ceci, the assets are there and so is the need.
Sure, who is available again? And who is taking Ceci from us?

Does anyone have stats on the number of powerplays we got on this win streak? I swear I read we got less then even the Sharks.

The reason Vegas does this a lot is because their offense is actually pretty vanilla, especially with Eichel out of the lineup.

It's not a designed strategy to score goals on Stuart Skinner it's just what works. They do it against everyone, as does the entire league.

I think on the broadcast the team has given up 1 goal in around the last 30 PK attempts.

You probably won't be able to see much with the head in the sand, we have been over this for no small amount of time.

I don’t agree. Both LA and Vegas did it all series last year.

yes it does seem like Vegas creates alot of their chances from point shots and hoping for rebounds or deflections. They do it very effectively. Then you have Bouchard last night who was refusing to shoot anything at all.. use that DAMN shot!
