Unfortunately, something big needs to happen. Either Slats has to walk into the room and say Torts is guaranteed to be here for the next 2-3 years (or however long his contract is) and anyone who disagrees can hit the door, or a big trade needs to occur, or there's a coaching change.
Which is the best move? I have no idea. But things can't remain status quo.
In my opinion, this season's format is wacky and it'd be a big risk to make a huge move based on poor results this year. It might work out, but I'd be wary of it. If the team looks like this after a normal off season and a full camp and preseason and all that, I'll gladly call for a coaching change and/or a bigtime trade.
