Anyone else pumped for the 4 nations?

Wow someone got hurt in a meaningless hockey game? Crazy

Corrected for you.

The players don't seem to think it's meaningless...

They all accepted the risk of getting injured to play in the tournament and they played hard last night. Lots of hits, emotion and high speed hockey. They didn't hold back like they would in a "2 week all star game".

Cool story. Meaningless tournament is still...meaningless.

I was wrong? Shea Theordore just got injured in a pointless tournament for weeks. Seems like I was completely right.
It's funny that this is your response when your original post was "enjoy the all-star break, no one is going out there to get hurt" so yes, you were absolutely wrong.

By the way, there were 41 hits last night. The night before, UTA vs WSH (a "real" NHL game) had 26 hits in comparison. So much for the entire narrative you were trying to spin (and still are)

I see the Canadian posters(see the 4 above) are all pounding their chests this morning because they won a meaningless game and trying to make us think it a real tournament like the Olympics or something

I'm glad you guys are happy though, congrats :)

Weird point to try to make since the US might have the best team here and could easily win this...

Just admit you were wrong dude, my god

It was a hell of a game. Cool to see Marner get his moment. Cool to Crosby look like Crosby. Sucks Theodore got hurt. Shame Sweden couldn't have pulled it off as they had a great comeback after a rough first.

I will say.. the last all star event I watched was Owen Nolan going bar down on Hasek. So this is a lot better than that.

Best part of this is the 2028 world cup news and knowing that 2026 is a bear on best.

This springs world's will not have much star power. The Czech coach even said pasta is out even if bruins don't make playoffs for instance. I seriously doubt Sid is suiting up either.

You can just accept that you were wrong that players would treat this like an all-star game and they'd be playing with kid gloves on to avoid injury

One game in. Already an injury, already players like Crosby playing through injuries and already a fantastic game.
regardless I doubt they are gonna try and hurt each other and it's still meaningless

I'm Swedish and I was pretty pissed we couldn't complete the comeback. Though that feeling was kind of overshadowed by the quality of the game and finally getting to watch best on best (this game) international hockey.

So the Olympics, run by one of the most corrupt organizations in the world, is meaningful to you but this isn't because it's a money grab? 😂
And im gonna spam the Four Nations threads with my disdain for the tournament because if I'm not a fan of something, no one should be.

I'm pretty sure the guy's a Rangers fan. And as a fellow Rangers fan I'm comfortable saying these games have significantly more meaning than any games the Rangers will play this year.

His point is it's a meaningless money grab which is totally what it is.

Read his original post. At first his point was that it was a "2 week all-star game where players wouldn't risk getting injured" because apparently the players wouldn't care.

Then in game 1 Theodore went down immediately. Crosby played lights out while injured and the two teams combined for 41 hits, instantly proving his theory wrong.

After that game happened he then had to pivot to "it's a meaningless cash grab". Which isn't much of a point really. Virtually every sporting event exists to make money.

If the tournament was "meaningless" we would see the players take it easy (like at the all-star game) instead of playing hard like they did last night. Clearly the players care, and the fans did too, the building was rocking.

Like I said in the other thread, I wasn't too pumped for it before it started, but goddamn that game last night was so fun. Seeing Crosby be Crosby... the energy that the players played with, the energy of the crowd... the sheer amount of talent on the ice together.

Definitely didn't have any semblance of an "Exhibition" feeling. And that's just the first game... I can only imagine the energy will get more and more intense as the tournament goes on.
