Quattro!!
Except with the Rangers that one shot typically misses.
Just curious, those of you who voted No, which coach in the NHL do you think would fix this team and why?
NYR 2009–10 82 38 33 - 11 87 4th in Atlantic -- -- -- Missed Playoffs
NYR 2010–11 82 44 33 - 5 93 3rd in Atlantic 1 4 .200 Lost in First Round (WSH)
NYR 2011–12 82 51 24 - 7 109 1st in Atlantic 10 10 .500 Lost in Conference Finals (NJD)
Just showing Tort's record as a full NY coach. I do agree that the PP is dog ****.
But only 15 games into the season, and being 8-6-1 isn't bad. Especially when our team consists of new forwards. Asham, Halpern, Kreider, Power, Nash, Miller, Pyatt. More than 50 percent of the forwards are new. I'm not surprised they aren't clicking right now.
A major problem is that the powerplay is infuriatingly bad. I could easily say that the Rangers could have an extra 4 or so wins if the powerplay was good.
The Tortorella who coached the Lightning would be perfect for this team.
Has the coach tried everything to get the best out of his players? Are high profile 'stars' on this team performing below what we expect ? Look at the threads, complaints about pretty much everyone not named Callahan.
My question is this - when will this coach and organization get it? You can't make this entire team into Callahans !
I don't think it's even about that, but more so with players buying into the system. If you go back to last year's 24/7, it seems like Torts had trouble getting players to buy into it.
That what I'm saying. This system works great for Ryan Callahans of the world, what about the actual guys you pay top dollars??
That's the conflict. They have to either buy into it or force their game and end up playing like ****.
The PP is crap because they can't win faceoffs and they seemingly forgot how to skate the puck into the zone. Dumping the puck is worthless if you can't get the puck back.
What about the horrendous play when they do control the puck ? Its just as bad.
That can be attributed to the fact that we don't have anyone capable of hitting the net with a one-timer.
Okay we don't have a bomb of a shot, so you adapt. Use your speed, use quick passes, move, rotate, theres plenty you can do besides bomb away opposing goalies on the PP.
Preaching to the choir here.
