They would not recall him to play in a 4th line role . Just speculating but with all rumors around Gaborik moving I could see CK them becoming a top 6 F with perhaps a D man and bottom six wing coming back

Yeah, but when exactly has Kreider shown he can replace the talent that Gaborik has? Why would you want to trade our twice 40 goal scorer for spare parts?

Curious move. Especially after all the stories in the papers this morning with Torts talking about how he needs "more development" and how he doesn't want to "hurt him".

I guess this is why everyone says newspapers are obsolete, eh?

There are some legitimate gripes with it. Kreider going up and down constantly isn't the greatest thing in the world and Haley played solid enough to keep his spot over someone like Stu or Asham.

He was sent down once from the big club. How is that constantly?

Also part of my speculation about a move

At no point did I say CK is going to replace Gaboriks production . 40 g Gaborik no , I goal in last 17 debatable

I should have said that along with getting benched constantly. It has to kill his confidence.

Also he was sent down twice albeit once only for a single day.

I look at it as he did what he was supposed to do down there...get his confidence back. So he deserves a call up.

I will agree that Torts shouldn't yank his chain while he's up. Play him with talented players and let him play. If he makes a mistake, so be it.

I think he makes them a better team. I also think Haley did a good job while he played and if they need another body, he should be the player that is called up.

Guaranteed Torts spit out his coffee when he heard the news.

I'm hesitant on this call up but I agree that he definitely can add another dimension to this team. A needed one at that. I'm all for eating some nice crow served via CK.

I'd hope that Torts doesn't anchor him with guys like Boyle/Pyatt but I'm not holding my breath.

"SPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFT. Talented prospects? ON MY TEAM!??!"

I agree 100% with that comment, if he's playing with them or on the 4th line, I'll be pissed.

I still think he's a perfect winger with Nash. Give Nash the puck and that will free up space for Kreider. When he has time to shoot, he can bury the puck.

I just hope some of Miller's bravado rubs off on Kreider.

I like Haley. I would have liked to see Bickel assigned and Asham a healthy scratch. Haley is better across the board compared to Asham. Better on both ends, tougher, and better fighter.

Think Kreider would be well suited with Callahan and Stepan and that Hagelin will be well suited with Miller and Boyle.

Think Pyatt should be a healthy scratch, he's not doing much of anything right now. He's not doing anything bad but he's also not doing anything good.

We'll have 2 really explosive lines if Kreider can live up to potential or at least play like he has been in the AHL these last 8 games and a really solid checking line as our 3rd line.

Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
Hagelin-Boyle-Miller
Powe-Halpern-Asham

I think the transition of our team to one that fights less has a huge factor in this. Asham is not as good defensively but he has a much greater offensive touch. He's also a right handed shot. Additionally, he has a lot more experience than Haley and is probably a greater locker room presence.

I like Haley more (on the ice) but I see why this move was made.

I know this is said all the time when something like this happens, but this better be a showcase for Asham. Haley earned his spot and I would rather have a young hungry player pushing on the 4th line than let it be a retirement community.

We are a team struggling to score. Asham has way more experience and scoring touch. Don't like the move but see why it was made.

Why Asham, Powe, Pyatt, Boyle or Halpern are playing over Haley is beyond me.

I'd like to see Halpern get 3rd line minutes for a couple games. His speed and putting him with some better players could result in a better 3rd line. He is better than Boyle

too soon. feels like one of those situations where he'll come up score a goal, add 2 assists, but do it w/o grinding the whole time and get tossed back down and lose all his confidence. should've waited for a coaching staff change :P

also: haley was playing like a top 9 on this team. would've gladly benched powe or pyatt for him

I dont think its too soon. If Krieder gets the same oppurtunities that Miller gets then its a non issue. Miller makes a ton of mistakes but Torts lets him play. In the past if krieder made one small mistake he was benched for the game. Hopefully Torts learned that it wasnt the right thing to do with kreider. also kreider needs to play on the powerplsy because he is great in front of the net tipping in rebounds

I'd imagine Kreider will see time on the 3rd line.

Nash - Richards - Gaborik
Hags - Steps - Cally
Kreider - Boyle - Miller
Pyatt - Halpern - Powe

Not much more to it. One guy up, one guy down.

This exactly. As much as you guys don't like Boyle that third line makes sense. A defensively responsible center with two rookie wings. Boyle has looked better lately, if Kreider can come in with confidence that can be a good third line.

I don't understand this move. I thought Torts hated Kreider and by bringing him back up he's going to ruin him...

I saw some quotes in the paper today from Torts saying he got a bunch of really good reports on Kreider's game the past few weeks. Specifically the last 3-4 games he said he was getting very good reports about Kreider. I know people think it's a personal thing with Torts against Kreider, but I really think he wants to bring Kreider along well, he knows he is an important prospect. He played well in the playoffs but his stint here early this season, he was obviously playing tentative and scared- looking to get rid of the puck when he had space, taking 20 second shifts, basically playing not to make mistakes instead of playing his game. If Kreider can come in here with confidence and build on his strong play in CT then I think a third line of Kreider-Boyle-Miller has great potential.

Thing Hagelin is more of a checker than Kreider. Think it makes sense to put him on the 3rd line and Kreider on the 2nd. Kreider also already has great chemistry with Stepan.

Boyle will suck any offensive ability from them and that line. What Boyle needs is to be traded. For a bag of pucks, an Arby's coupon, whatever.

Bingo. People forget that Stepan and kreider had great chemistry in the playoffs. Se havent seen them together at all which is a crime. hopefully this time we will see more of them. Also Kreider NEEDS PP time. In hartford he was scoring a lot of PP goals by parking himself in front of the net and knocking in rebounds
