Recalled/Assigned: All-Encompassing Call-ups Thread (4/29: Thomas, 9 others recalled to NYR)

Wow, the way this board and people's opinions change quickly.

Let me just ask: Would you have said the same thing before Hagelin was on his little goal/point streak? Did you?

Kreider will easily top Hagelin in the long term. Now, no.

EASILY? I'm not really sure how one would reach that conclusion.

Aside from Kreider's playoff scoring touch, Just seeing what I have from the two players in my opinion I think Hagelin will end up being the better player long term

-he seems like he is more capable of playing all 3 zones better than kreider
-I didn't see either player in college, but Hagelins stats look better
-Kreider has the physical tools, but still seems a little too timid mucking it up.
-Hagelin seems like a player that could slip onto any of the 4 lines where I think Kreider has to be used in a top 6 role
- I think if Kreider puts it together he COULD be the better pure scorer, but I think Hagelins all around game will be better

No Love For Kreider

I have been a long time Ranger fan for fifty years and season ticket holder for almost the same amount years. I finally gave up on my tickets when Redden was signed.Although a harsh critic of Sather for the first part of his tenure, see posts of years past, I had been generally happy with the direction of the team for the last few years. Our drafts and trades have generally been favorable.
While not a huge advocate of the Nash trade, I did understand what I thought was the rationale. Dubinsky and Arti would be replaced by Hagelin J.T. and Kreider. Further, it woulsd take this year for the youngsters to assimilate to the NHL. Next year and not this year would be the time to make a serious run at the Cup. I saw Kreider play in the Beanpot his last two years. In my opinion, he is the best prospect the Rangers have drafted in the last ten to fifteen years. Why not let the kid play and go through the natural progression of growing pains? Without Kreider,J.T.and Hagelin maturing, this team can not win a Cup.
Tough love is one thing destroying a kid's confidence is something different. Thanks for letting me vent and I look forward to posters responses

i hope kreider keeps his spot, he's been playing better than a few other guys. he's working hard out there... idk if it's a minutes thing at this point or what, but i don't think there is any reason to send him back down. he was told to step it up and he has.

“@NYDNRangers: #NYR have returned Brandon Mashinter to the @CTWhale ... Nash came back to practice yesterday. McDonagh practicing today. Team recovering”

“@NYDNRangers: Ryan McDonagh, who missed last night's game w/ an undisclosed injury (feared a concussion), is on the ice before #NYR practice in G-burgh”

“@NYDNRangers: Nash again on the ice today at practice”

Put it this way, no one has played good except Callahan, Hagelin, and Stralman. Name me anyone else who you can say has played well.

Nash, when he was healthy.

But yes, thats about it and a huge part of the problem. Hagelin and Stralman are the only guys who have improved over last year.

Hagelin is playing with great confidence and is playing well in all three zones. CK on the other hand is tentative and therefore not playing very well. However, after a fast start last year Hags went through a pretty big slump where many on this board were questioning whether he was truly NHL ready.

Long term I think Kreids is the better player due to his size and superior shot. Also, in college CK was a much better passer that we are seeing and better than Hags. Give him time and we will have a very good player on our hands; if Torts doesn't destroy him to the point where he needs a change of scenery.

Kreider will be good. Kid has had too much pressure on him in the last 9 months... Everyone swore the kid would be a superstar, you don't thnk that has affected him? Cause I'm sure it has

Funny your name is 4 th line grinder and ur happy he was sent down ? Kid choked up here didnt use his size at all but when you play scared and know one wrong move and your done that's what happens

you choke in the NHL, you deserve to get sent down.

Kid was awful yesterday. Maybe he'll work his way back up but you can't play two games at an AHL level and expect to stick

que? When healthy:

Hagelin - Stepan - Callahan
Gaborik - Richards - Nash
Pyatt - Boyle - Miller
Asham - Halpern - Powe

I would like to see

Hagelin Stepan Nash
Kreider Richards Gaborik
Pyatt Miller Callahan
Powe Halpern Asham

Boyle

If Kreider gets sent down then move Cally to the second line and put Boyle on Miller's line. The way Cally played last night he could energize Richie (who is slowly improving) and Gabby.

i wanna roll my eyes when ppl say stuff like youre ruining a prospect...the amount of players who have had to go up and down and not play for long periods of time and have been successful is just as long as those who went all the way from the minors and worked their ways up permanently.

the fact of the matter is, Kreider is a "tweener" right now...he probably won't learn all that much from playing down there, but he should be playing....and on the flip side, his play at this level hasn't warranted him playing more than he has. so to be honest, either sending him down, or keeping him up are both valid plans....it's really up to him. he's been playing scared...when he starts playing fearless, his ice time will go up.
