Kind of conflicted when it comes to Collision. To start, I don't give a shit about CM Punk. The only thing that can make me care about him at this point is the, hopefully, inevitable fued with The Elite. Other than that he doesn't move the needle for me at all. But... I'm excited for the potential of a 2nd show that they are hopefully going to push to be as important as Dynamite, I don't want another Rampage. But Saturday at 7 seems tough. I'll be the first to admit I have no idea how ratings work. If DVR doesn't count I don't see it working long twr..

Don Callis has achieved a legendary level of heat. Also the hot dog sign caught me so off guard legit made me die laughing.
That guy had some great signs

FWIW technically FD2 will be Ospreay vs Omega III but it is probably the second of three matches during 2023.

quietly exits the room...lol

I thought there would be at least one NJPW appearance tonight. Maybe they're trying to not overwhelm fans with the first two matches confirmed yesterday however now there are two weeks left for the card to take shape. Maybe it will be a three match card with the largest battle royal then an hour for each of the two announced matches, lol.

NJPW is doing a joint show with NOAH and AJPW tomorrow so that's probably why there wasn't any talent showing up. I expect it to ramp up in the next 2 weeks though.

Ticket sales are not good for several Canadian dates.

from wrestlinginc.com:

AEW is gearing up for a busy summer as it relates to CM Punk's return, the premiere of "AEW Collision," the company's first Canadian tour, Forbidden Door, the Owen Hart Cup, and their United Kingdom debut.

But as the company adds television dates to their calendar for Wednesday and Saturday nights, it appears some Canadian markets are struggling with ticket sales. During a recent episode of "Wrestling Observer Radio," Dave Meltzer provided an update on what's going on in select cities.

"I've had people in Calgary tell me that one's a little bit struggling for the Saturday night, but I think with the Owen Hart tournament, I think they should do okay," Meltzer said. "But Hamilton and Regina are going to be very, very tough. They're like 700 tickets for the 'Collision' in Hamilton, and I think also part of it is that in Canada, they only get 'Dynamite' on television, they don't get 'Rampage.' And there's been no announcements of 'Collision' [airing in Canada] and there's been no announcements of 'Collision' for the UK either. People keep asking me, still haven't heard anything on that."

Meltzer also noted that Punk has been moving tickets for the "Collision" premiere at the United Center in Chicago. As previously noted, AEW had sold 7,000 tickets initially and then added another 700 in the 24 hours following Punk's addition.

All in all, AEW will have eight nights of television tapings across Canada starting with the second episode of "Collision" in Toronto on June 24, which will air just 24 hours before Forbidden Door. Their tour will conclude on July 15 in Calgary with "Collision," which will feature the finals of this year's Owen Hart Cup.

I think they booked too many shows in too small an area over too short a time. That's a lot of wrestling and fans are going to prioritize the big shows

The plan at FD was for Mercedes Mone to work with Sayraya.

You have a chance for Sasha Banks to show up on your show, even if it's a one time thing, and broken down Saraya working in slow motion is your choice?

It also sounds like Collision won't be airing on TV in Canada. Will be shown on TSN+. So running a new show in a country that can't even watch it on TV and then wonder why tickets won't move for said show. It isn't an ideal start there.

Would’ve been the most natural storyline since Mercedes ‘ended her career’

Meh, every TSN customer has access, right? Cable is so 2002.
I thought pretty much everyone up here has TNT and TBS anyhow. They were always included in any package I had back when I used cable. Even as a kid they were and I'd be shocked if my Dad was paying for more than the basic package.

Sure - we all have access to TSN but TSN+ is a streaming service that costs extra.

TSN+ is available now for a limited-time free preview, and is ready to stream exclusively on mobile devices, tablets, and is available on connected TVs, including Apple TV, Android TV, Xbox One, Roku TV, LG Smart TV, Samsung Smart TV, and Amazon Fire TV stick. CLICK HERE for a full list of compatible devices is available

Direct-to-consumer pricing and subscription options will be announced in the coming weeks.

TSN has like 5 channels too, they can’t put it on one?

TBS used to be one of the " US Superstations " along with WGN ( Chicago ), KTLA ( LA ), WSBK ( Boston ) and WPIX ( New York ) and was available on most Canadian cable companies. Although Canadians never really got the true TBS channel because a lot of the shows that aired on the US version did not air in Canada - we got the Atlanta affiliate ( WTBS ) so that meant that we did get the Braves games and WCW wrestling. About 15 years ago the TBS affiliate out of Atlanta changed it's name to WPCH Peachtree TV ( WPCH ) and over the years a lot of Canadian cable companies dropped the channel as it was no longer considered a " US Superstation ". When I was a SHAW customer they dropped the channel about 5 or 6 years ago but now that I am with Telus I can get the channel as part of the Superstations theme pack.

Well let's look at what's airing on those 5 TSN channels that night:

TSN: CFL ( 7 pm Eastern ) and SportsCentre ( 10 pm + 11 pm Eastern )
TSN2: Major League Rugby ( 7 pm Eastern ), Plays of the Month ( 9 pm Eastern ), Formula 1 Racing ( 9:30 pm Eastern )
TSN3: CFL ( 7 pm Eastern ), Horse Racing ( 10 pm Eastern ) and SportsCentre ( 11 pm Eastern )
TSN4: US Open Golf Championship ( starts at 1 pm Eastern and goes to 11 pm Eastern )
TSN5: 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Preview show ( 7 pm Eastern ), Plays of the Week ( 7:30 pm Eastern ), UFC Fight Night ( 8 pm to 1 am Eastern )

So yes - there's a lot of slots to air the show live. Hell - even airing it the next day would be OK with a lot of us.

Looks like my new weekend routine will be downloading Rampage Saturday morning and Collision Sunday morning, lol. I don't know all the differences between TSN+ and streaming TSN through tsn.ca where you login with your cable/satellite provider credentials. The latter has offered Rampage since its inception however you would have to stream it live. Many people have PVRs/DVRs, whatever you want to call it, so even airing it at 2am would allow Collision to be recorded and would be better than making it a streaming exclusive.

edit...There are only so many different ways we can express disappointment but I think we're mostly on the same page. I find it inexcusable they can't throw it on one of the five networks overnight if they don't have space to air it live. They probably want to drive traffic to their app, especially a younger demographic. They believe the people that watch it online, even though it's less than would watch it on TV, is a net positive for the company. Post 900 below is the first time I have seen Canadian television ratings. It reminds me of the UK ratings where AEW tops WWE. Not that they are miles ahead but still interesting to see compared to the US ratings.

Ah, gotcha. I'm almost a decade removed from using cable. Interesting info though, I do remember it aired WCW and all the Braves games. I remember those other stations too but I know at least two (WGN and WSBK) came as part of the movie channel package which we had at times. My parents would always take it away because my brothers were getting bad grades even though it punished me the most by taking away the Bruins games.

from f4wonline.com:

AEW has announced that Collision will be available to stream live in Canada.

On Friday, Renee Paquette and RJ City appeared on TSN and revealed that AEW's new Saturday night show will air on the TSN+ app. However, as is the case with AEW Rampage, it will not air on any of TSN's traditional television channels.

While the announcement will be viewed as positive to some, many Canadian fans have expressed frustration at Rampage and now Collision not airing on traditional television in the country.

Television ratings for AEW on TSN have been strong recently. Dynamite was the highest rated wrestling show in Canada this week in the key demographic (which is 25-54 in the country). The show garnered 136,700 total viewers this week with 92,400 in the key demographic. SmackDown, which did big ratings in the United States, brought in 129,500 total viewers and 62,400 in 25-54. Raw averaged 200,600 viewers and 91,000 in the key demographic.

While AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II in Toronto has just under 13,000 tickets distributed, sales for episodes of Collision in Canada have not been selling as well. The 6/24 episode from Toronto is at 1,812 tickets out, the 6/29 episode (which will not air live) in Hamilton is only at 700 tickets out. A show in Regina on 7/8 is at 1,346 and the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament in Calgary on 7/15 has 3,425 tickets out.
