Has Omega-Ospreay at FD2 been confirmed by NJPW or AEW? The winner of the tournament receives a title match and people/we assumed FD2 however I'm looking for confirmation of FD2 this morning and haven't found any. I don't want to get too excited until we know for certain where the match will occur but I'm hopeful it's where we think it will be.

Sooo Okada-Danielson and Omega-Ospreay are confirmed for FD2. Toronto is about to get one of the greatest wrestling cards ever. Swear to god if I hear someone complain about a build to this lmao. Danielson had some cold ass lines in the promo video too.

f*** my tits, let’s goooooo!

I just so happen to be travelling back through Toronto on my way back up north during the same weekend….

I am going to Forbidden Door but don't know anything about NJPW. Can someone explain what's so special about Okada and Ospreay and more about them - like their ring style, character, mic work etc.

I've never seen Okada wrestle and not sure I can even picture him. Ospreay I saw one time in a 6-man tag in AEW but I don't think I was paying much attention.

Opinions are subjective and admittedly I still know little about NJPW but enjoyed the crossover last year and am building off that. Here is one website with multiple opinions sorted by date posted for three wrestlers that will seemingly be on the card that evening. Obviously many more to be announced.

Okada

Ospreay

Zack Sabre Jr

Okada is the Cena of NJPW in my opinion especially a few years ago. He’s a much better worker than Cena though. He’s the face of the company. Can’t really comment on his mic work. He works the NJPW strong style.

Osprey is extremely athletic and explosive but in recent years he’s bulked up some and rounded out his game. Character wise he’s a cocky heel. He leads the United empire faction which has wrestlers from all over the world. Mic wise he’s pretty good.

The last half of this video gives a pretty good peak into what Okada is. He is essentially in the GOAT conversation at this point. His think has never really been mic work he just kind of has a natural charisma to himself and a presence. As for Osprey I would check out the Omega-Osprey match from WK this year to get a good idea of what he is. His mic work has improved a ton over the last couple years, he could walk into either American company and be a main event level talent day one.

OC and Darby made gates of agony look like killers on dynamite

The mixed tag main event was better than the Cole/Jericho PPV match

I have always seen Tanahashi as NJPW's Cena just cause of the era they both did it in, but I hear ya there. I've always seen Okada as just a better version of Orton, which is to say an incredible wrestler and presence.

No offense, but not everyone lives in the wrestling bubble like we do.

To maximize business results, you need a good build. They do have three weeks to build to it.

That being said, as far as entertainment goes, the show should be a must watch.

I mean I feel like this is kind of the one show where build falls really far down the pecking order. The entire point is to tune in and see a bunch of matches you likely never thought you would get to see. I am sure they will have Okada show up on Dynamite leading up to the show but realistically good or bad build people are going to tune in to see a once in a lifetime kind of match. Omega and Osprey actually does have a story behind it...and they will be competing against their first match for match of the year lol

This has increased my excitement. Thanks @TheBeastCoast and @Grackle Party and @yahhockey

Also, not sure of how new this information is, but I noticed Samoa Joenvs Zack Sabre Jr has been announced. That's another guy that I've always hears about over the years along with Okada and Ospreay (and Naito comes to mind) that I've not really seen.

ZSJ is regarded as arguably the best technical wrestler in the world. His thing is beating people with a bunch of f***ed up and painful looking submissions. How much you enjoy him likely comes down to taste but he is not a high flyer at all much more mat based and working limbs.

He was on Rampage on Friday night was a short but good match and the finishing submission was disgusting lol no clue how you do that safely without a dislocated shoulder.

Ospreay/Kenny and Okada/Danielson is f***ing nuts. The 4 best wrestlers in the world going head to head. Insane.

I hope we get Christian Cage at FD. Would love to see him vs. ELP because Canada and all. Since they're kicking off the Owen Cup, I think that'd be an excellent 1st round match.

I'm not a big fan of Sabre, he's okay though. Okada, Ospreay, Naito are all excellent along with Kota Ibushi who I'm pretty sure is a free agent right now. I really like Shingo Takagi, Jeff Cobb, Kenta and Shibata as well. If most of these guys are on the card you'll be in for a good show.

dave meltzer making DoN sound like a top notch show. sleeping crowd must have missed the memo

You can not like something that doesn't mean you have to make shit up to go along with your opinion on it. It kind of discredits it right from the jump.
what did i make up? that the crowd was bored for most of the show or that it was an overbooked mess
