Punk absolutely has something to do with this discussion as he is the main one that brings up all this AEW young wrestlers don’t take help. I also have been the young guy on job sites. The cranky old f*** that just yelled I pretty much instantly ignored. The one that talked to me like an actual human being became one of my best friends. Just because Punk is “10 times the star” doesn’t mean people are going to want to put up with an ass hole lol and just because you didn’t want to deal with Phil doesn’t mean you don’t have your own already established mentorship group….and if you want to do it on your own I don’t exactly see how that hurts anyone? Hangman is doing pretty well for himself lol

Yeeeahhhh. The problem is you're fixated on making Punk the whole discussion when these are issues that were covered before Punk was even in AEW.

Quite frankly, part of the reason Punk became as much of a problem as he did is because Tony let them do whatever the f*** they wanted for so long that when somebody finally tried to police them, they threw a hissy fit. Granted, Punk was an absolute dick about it. But he wouldn't even have had to get involved if Tony were running a business and acting as a boss, and not trying to be everybody's BFF. This goes both ways, too. How the f*** are you going to let a contracted talent (Punk) tell you your Head of Talent Relations can't come to a show YOU OWN.

He is way less over/relevant than he was 2 years ago. Despite two great matchs, his title reign was mostly forgetable and until very recently with Swerve he has not done anything valuable.

He has the look, he has a good body and he has the talent, but right now, he is, at best, stagnating.

The error you are doing is making it about Punk. It has been reported a lot of times that guys like JR, Jake and Arn did not feel like some of the wrestlers were not really interested in seeking their advice. Did it cause a problem? No, because those guys are more than happy to just collect their check. The problem with Punk was that he thought he was a leader. He is not. Edge is.

I like Page, but he has been irrelevant since losing the title. It is nothing he is doing "wrong", but saying he is doing fine by himself and would not benefit from guidance is just not true.

He has a lot of potential and should honestly be a main event player at the level of an MJF right now.

Sure, but the problem is when those talents who can’t draw a dollar with a green crayon cheapen the product and disregard those who have been in the industry + actually know what they’re talking about and doing.


For example- when Jim Ross calls them out on their stupid choreographed cirque du soleil bullshit when they stand around as a group on the outside and wait to catch people and Brandon Cutler (among others) goes online and mocks him. He should have been fired the second he did that. Like what a f***ing talentless loser, where does he get off? He should have stuck to his usual work and gotten the Bucks off instead of feeling so personally attacked on their behalf.

And then somebody who actually does know what he’s doing and respects the business- Darby Allin- agrees with JR. Because he’s not a dipshit! And he actually listens! His stuff actually looks good and it’s believable. And would you look at that he’s probably more over than everybody in the company outside of MJF (another guy who listens and studies the greats of the past)

MJF watches mid-south in his free time and would you look at that, he knows how to get a body slam over bigger than anybody in the company can get their 720 triple McLindy over. The roster should be using these guys insight from that era to their advantage. Tully, Jake, Arn. They shouldn’t be forced to seek out advice by any means- they should actively want to. If they don’t want to then quite frankly they’re dumb and that’s their prerogative.
