Yeah I don't like that meme for a number of reasons, but a major one is Punk being shut down, especially at his age and this point in his career, is absolutely the right move.

You don't want him to be a situation like the Hardy's or even Omega where they worked through some serious injuries and put their ability to extend their careers in jeopardy.

Or look at Joe. His body looks utterly shot and it wouldn't shock me if that's from trying to push through too many injuries too many times.

I don't like Punk as a person, but trying to shame him for not working through an injury like that is stupid and shouldn't be happening.

That’s a really easy way to let someone “take your title”. Later on you just brush it off easily like “wasn’t even our top guy.” They’ve got built in protection.

I like it because it also gives you an easy route to run Punk v Tanahashi for the title

I think people would argue they should use it to prop up one of their own guys instead of another promotions guy who doesn’t really need the belt or the hype

I personally don’t have a problem with it and would welcome a NJPW guy as the interim champ. I think Tanahashi would add some prestige to the belt. But I think you’d see a lot of people bitching about it

I don’t know why they’d bitch about it since it would all lead back to Punk-Tanahashi anyway

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to put to on someone, especially someone they want to build, just to have them job to Punk later. Meanwhile we’d presumably get Tanahashi on TV every week and that’s definitely going to kick so much ass

Put it on Moxley. Moxley/Punk for All Out. That's a big match and All Out has become the biggest annual show.

I would have the final 2 in the battle royal be Jungle Boy/Christian, with Christian f***ing Jungle over to go full circle seeing as their partnership started with Jungle Boy eliminating Christian last year in the DON battle royal. Use this as a chance to advance that story. Then Moxley over Christian. Then Moxley over Tana at Forbidden Door.

Moxley can mess around with Jericho in the meantime while Punk heals up.
