Darby can be an upper card guy in the same way Foley was.
He's not the guy; but he doesn't need to be the guy.

He's being wasted in his role right now. They need to get him hot again.
The Punk match was supposed to put Darby on the map; it's been 8-months and he has never had less value than he does right now.

I don't either but he is better then Kyle. Kyle is a tag team guy. He is not a singles star at all
O'Reilly has some underrated charisma and is a great worker. I put him above Darby. I can't see Darby in the title picture.

I thought Punk was going to turn tonight. Not sure how I feel about him as champion.

If you’re expecting a PPV to deliver ten times over, you’re gonna be disappointed a lot.
This was a let down. I’m not sorry. It didn’t have to blow me away but i was barely entertained for most of the night.

I’m sure they’ll flesh it out on Wednesday.

Kyle absolutely flubbed his singles push in NXT and I've seen nothing in AEW to say he has improved.

He isn't even a mid card champ. There are way better singles wrestlers on this roster then him.

Darby has that Jeff Hardy appeal, though he needs to chill with some of those spots

Certainly I’m not the only one who feels like the MJF stuff is a work, right?

The guy lives his character. Creating a story where it makes sense for the company to bury him allows them to put Wardlow over strong, and still protect him as he’s, “Buried”, due to allegedly being a prima donna.

By the sounds of things, if it’s a work, he’s the only one in it.

I also don’t see how this would leverage into WWE. If Tony says ‘fine, then leave’ what’s WWE gonna pay a guy that AEW never put at the top despite everyone saying how great he is? They didn’t see it in Adam Cole I don’t know why MJF would be different in WWE, other than they just want to make AEW look stupid, but he wouldn’t get as much as he could in 2024 (18 months at this point). He’s also lowering his own ceiling in AEW, why would Tony slot him at the top when he’s been talking about leaving 3 years before his contract comes up?

My pet peeve with not just this in wrestling but sports is they sign these contracts and as soon as they feel they are not getting paid what they deserve they throw a fit. You signed the contract for x number of years that’s on you. See it all the time in football when players sign a contract and then within a few years want more because another guy is making money.

I get MJF’s frustration that ex WwE guys are coming in and signing for more money but when you signed you weren’t a big name. You signed for x number of years for money security and a job at that time. AEW has done a very good job of making MJF strong and not losing many feuds. The ones he does he still comes out looking strong. He’s not like they have mistreated him or keep giving him loses in matches like Darby Alin. MJF has been taken care of and he just comes of like a child in all of this to me.

I like MJF and I want him to stick around but I’m really disliking how he has handled this whole situation.

Contracts in the NFL, like wrestling, are not guaranteed. That’s why it happens.

At the same time guys like Jericho, CM Punk & Danielson were all main eventers in WWE. So it shouldn't be a surprise they are getting more money, they bring a lot more to the table in terms of viewership & merchandise.

MJF’s segments are frequently the highest rated segments so who again is bringing more eyes to the table?

As far as sports contracts go you’ll never find me pro-billionaire (and ESPECIALLY a daddy’s money billionaire) and I think being pro-owner is a ridiculous stance to take as a regular person- especially on contracts they can be released from at any time. Pay the man what he’s worth. Not that difficult, he’s in your best program month after month and frequently gets the highest rating. He should be THE pillar of AEW and if you don’t think WWE notices any of this then I do not know what to tell you. Signing him would be the fastest way to get my eyes consistently back on that product

This profession cripples people by their 50s and 60s. Make every last dime you can get, Tony is not the one in there sacrificing a pain-free future

I would be very frustrated if I'm MJF.
It's one thing to sign a contract, but raises are a thing if you out perform.

TK relies on him a lot and he needs to pay him. I would not be happy if I'm MJF and I see people like Adam Cole or Keith Lee or whomever come in and are making X, and I'm making Y.
MJF should be making more than whatever Adam Cole is getting. MJF should be making EVP money at this stage.

If salary structure is starting to become an issue, maybe stop signing 5 NXT wash outs a month and start taking care of the wrestlers that are already there. Maybe start utilizing people under contract better.

It's parody at this point. AEW is becoming a homeless shelter for wrestlers and it doesn't need to be. There are not enough rooms at the Inn and there haven't been since like November/December. I kinda wish they went on a hiring freeze at that point. I know the bigger picture is putting a lot of these wrestlers in ROH, but who knows if ROH ever even happens or when.

ROH even being a thing on AEW tv has been a detriment and it just takes away time and focus from things that matter more

as if that matters. Adam Cole is constantly in the lowest rated segments and is grossly overpushed, but sure as shit he needs to get shoved down your throat and is probably making much more money than an MJF

Apparently he is willing to give him a pay raise. I think there’s more to this.

They got a new TV deal coming too that's going to raise salaries, as it will/should in WWE. It's not like Tony doesn't want to pay people.

Not sure how old this interview is from but can’t be too long ago. The man wants to be paid but also I feel like he wants to go to WWE.

The thing MJF does so well is he constantly stays in character. Whether that’s who he is a person behind closed doors or not thats something we will never know. He does such a good job blurring the line of real or fake that we don’t know.

I meant new viewers. I don't disagree with your point but I am sure theres people who started tuning in after Jericho/Punk/Danielson etc debuted.

Anyone know just how underpaid he is compared to others?
