They had something good going with Joe and his "King of Television" monster heel gimmick. They could of ran with that for 6 months, building up Joe as unstoppable.

Why is it so hard for AEW to create long-term stories? Even early 2000s WCW didn't hotshot things the way AEW does.

It's like when they gave the fans The Acclaimed vs. FTR a few weeks back. Those two teams are easily the most over in the entire company and should of been kept away from each other as long as possible. Make the fans crave it for when the confrontation finally does happen.
I mean...they do have long term stories. When they do people also tend to complain the feuds run to long lol

I definitely agree with your first and third paragraphs. Kind of agree with the 2nd but like TheBeastCoast said they have had some long term stories and some complain about them being too long. They've definitely missed a lot of opportunities for better storytelling.

I can't agree with the WCW comment though. I think fans sometimes forget just how bad it was from 99-01. It was quite common for the world title to change hands multiple times in an episode of Nitro. I would actually say it's the worse era for any promotion in the history of wrestling.

I think Tony needs to hire a real booker tbh, too many mind-numbing decisions this past year.

I give him a pass for the regal/mjf stuff though. That’s just a tough situation

They didn’t hotshot anything. They knew what they were doing when this show was announced for Seattle, and Darby as one of ‘the pillars.’ You just didn’t like the booking, which is perfectly reasonable.

I think a big part of that is that the ROH streaming service is supposed to happen in the next month or so (if rumours are correct). If that's the case, they're probably putting AEW titles on AEW guys, and separating the two franchises a bit for the launch. Samoa Joe is going to be one of the faces of the franchise for the new ROH, so while he may get a little AEW crossover, they want him to be known as an ROH guy. There's a few other people I expect to get shifted over once it launches (Claudio and Yuta, the BCC will have representation in both franchises. Athena, The Kingdom, The Embassy though that's died down a bit on AEW TV, Bandido. Wouldn't be surprised if LFI moved over there as well. I could see Garcia and possibly 2point0 moving over there to represent "JAS" in the ROH franchise).

Really, I feel like a lot of the current booking is more to set up a separation between ROH and AEW talent (FTR's contracts are supposedly up soon, and they were number one contenders for like a full year, so this gave them a title shot before they left, and Tony mentioned them being involved more in ROH, so also probably moving them there until contracts expire).

Not saying it's all good booking, because there 100% is some questionable stuff, but this booking I get.

Would Tony accept it?

Absolutely, he would accept it, then have a tournament to crown a new champ with Starks, Hobbs, Brian Cage, Jungle Boy, Action Andretti, Hager, AR Fox, and Bigg Bill

Bigg Bill would win it, then drop it 9 days later to Wardlow, who would drop it 2 weeks later to Sammy Guevara who would then disappear for 4 weeks while posting instagram pics of him banging Tay while she wears the belt

Jon Moxley, it appears as if I have some more lessons to teach you and the Blackpool Combat Club and there is still unfinished business between us and the Jericho Appreciation Society.

I'm sure I'm late with this joke, but now I'm fully expecting Stephanie McMahon to be Saraya's mystery partner.

That match is tonight correct?

So at this point do they actually go with Toni?

Have Shida secretly take out Toni, then join Saraya in the match as a replacement, and turn on Saraya?

Shida takes out Toni and tells Saraya to F - off, leaving Saraya without a partner? Perhaps with a surprise appearance by Mercedes to save the day?

Mercedes is better as a heel, could she show up to save the day only to turn on Saraya herself and align with Shida?

There are a lot of possibilities for something to happen here for the usually terrible AEW womens division, hopefully they come up with something good

Seems like one of your scenarios would be the best scenario. I've been trying to think of the worst scenarios, not sure who'd get more boos between Nia Jax or Eva Marie,

On a serious note, I wonder if the FAA outage affected any performer's ability to get to the show? Although I imagine most people would have gotten in by last night.

Shes so far above Shida. It seems everyone and their sister is in some sort of faction in AEW, would love for Mercedes to be on her own.

Would be impeccable timing if Tony had a trick up his sleeve for tonight. If not, they need a few fire matches and promos with a hostile crowd.

I have a feeling that if she is showing up it won't be until after the match. I don't really care one way or another whether she shows up though. Down the list of things I am excited for tonight.

I can also see this. Fans will be pretty meh if it's indeed Toni teaming with Saraya, but then after the match shit hits the fan. Fans would probably be a bit depressed during the match thinking she's not there, then... BAM

I'm fired up for this show, though.
