Haggerty mentioned that the Bruins offered JFK NHL-playing time next season specifically being the Bruins' 3C in exchange for signing an ELC before the season ended which Haggerty added, means game 4 was Spooner's last game as a Bruin. Here's the video: http://www.csnne.com/video/haggerty-which-bruins-should-be-back-next-season

There's no way the Bruins offered JFK 3rd line center spot already for next year. That's just silly. What they likely said was "you'll get a long fair look to earn a spot". You don;t offer gifts of unearned minutes to rookies.

If thats the case im a tad worried. I know it was a small sample size and I can only remember literally 3 times he touched the puck but it looked like a kid amongst men. Got absolutely stripped blind of the puck at the blue line (thats the one that sticks out) so im hoping he has a big offseason of strength training.

No, we do not. I'm not sure why people are even entertaining the thought.

my math skills aren't quite up to par but.. why not?
I don't want Oshie - at all, but Boston could easily afford another big contract if they wished.

might need a trade of whatnot but... the whole core of the team going forward is rather inexpensive at the moment.

^ the question is more along the lines of whom can they convince to take Beleskey and Hayes. That's 6.1 right there. But neither an easy sell.

According to Cap Friendly we have $9.6m to spend next year. If we somehow manage to get rid of Beleskey, it bumps to $13.4m, but let's presume that this miracle doesn't happen. I'll presume that Vegas takes Colin Miller - that's another £1m in the bank, so there's $10.6m to spend.

Sign Pastrnak @ $6m / 6 years
Sign Acciari @ $900k / 1-2 years
O'Gara in to replace Morrow @ $925k

We still need to fill the holes left by the departures of Moore, Spooner and Stafford, and we have $2.8m to spend. Let's say DeBrusk, JFK and Cehlarik step up - that's an extra $1.6m outgoing, as JFK is already included in the hit. So we're left with $1.2m to spare, with the following lineup:

Marchand-Bergeron-Backes
Cehlarik-Krejci-Pastrnak
DeBrusk-JFK-Nash
Vatrano-Kuraly-Acciari
Hayes

Chara-McAvoy
Krug-Carlo
Killer-McQuaid
O'Gara

Rask
Khudobin

After looking at it like this, I don't see how Oshie or Landeskog for prospects could become a reality. If Beleskey is picked up by Vegas then we could be have around $4m in space (after adding Colin Miller back in) , but even then it's not enough. The £2.1m we're paying Seidenberg next year is rough.

I think that the only way we're seeing wholesale changes is if a big-time player leaves. Or if Pasta takes a bridge contract, which seems unlikely. We're gonna have to rely on the youngsters.
