LeBrun is out at ESPN as of this am and there is nothing in his tweets that mentions this

It was taken directly from the TSN site. LeBrun has now acknowledged in this update that it may have been fake. He also made comment on being out at ESPN as you indicate. Odd that TSN allowed it to be on thier site in the first place. Apologies for any confusion it has caused.

Bruins should really think hard about trading DK, they can use the cap space to sign Oshie and stick him on a 2nd line with Backes.

I wonder if Oshie falls under the Eriksson/Backes/Ladd type of free agent this season. He will be 31 in December and had a 23.1% shooting percentage this season (previous career high was 14.1%) while scoring a career high 33 goals, previous career high was 26 in 15-16 (both of which came with stacked Capitals teams).

The coyotes have a lot of young wings with potential...maybe we could trade for one of them to see how they do with a playmaker like krejci. Something like C Miller + 2nd for Perlini? Just spitballing here

Moves I want to see: RESIGN Pastrnak and Schaller; TRADE Hayes, Spooner, Krug, C. Miller; LET WALK Moore, Liles; UNDECIDED ON Stafford.

I know the "trade Krug" proposal will catch hell but, IMO, with McAvoy and Carlo he isn't needed. McAvoy in his short time up did a much better job of running the PP and Krug's D isn't that good. He is good enough to get a decent player in return and, if bunched, could get an outstanding one. There are going to be some outstanding players available this year due to the expansion. Let's take advantage of it.

AND NO I DON"T HATE KRUG.

Yes you do. You have been on the trade Krug plan forever now. All he does it get better every year.

I'm torn on this one.

My heart says yes. I've always liked Iginla as a player and i thought he was great in his one year here with the team.

My brain says no. He had a really rough year and he looked awfully slow.

My heart again: If he can be committed to putting in the work for one last kick at the can and is fine with a 1 year contract under 3, why not. Right hand shot to replace Hayes in the lineup and serves as a stop gap until Senyshyn gets some minor league XP this coming year. His lack of footspeed is an issue, but we did alright with Backes in the lineup.

Marchand -- Bergeron -- Iginla

Cehlarik -- Krejci -- Pasta

DeBrusk -- Backes -- Vatrano

Blidh -- Kuraly -- Acciari

13th: Nash

My brain tells me putting a guy who is 39 and looked burned out and disinterested in hockey on the 1st line is not the greatest idea I've ever had.

Have you seen him in Colorado? Your brain is right, for sure. If he's anywhere above our 3rd line we're in trouble. Even then, I have doubts... I'd love for him to win the Cup, I don't think he's "disinterested", but I'm not sure how much of a help he'd be.

I think he really liked living in Boston. Maybe his kids liked school, or something.

Just STAY AWAY from Iginla, he is done. Our forwards are slow enough with guys like Backes, Krejci and Hayes out there. We need young speedy forwards that can score and force plays in the offensive zone and that sure is not Iginla.

For the first time in several years, there is some positivity surrounding the direction of the Boston Bruins. General manager Don Sweeney’s youth movement is starting to pay dividends. The promise of a top-four defense corps consisting of Zdeno Chara, Charlie McAvoy, Torey Krug and Brandon Carlo is awfully encouraging. There are also some young forwards with good pedigrees knocking at the door.

There’s no guarantee the B’s upward trajectory will be reflected in the standings if they don’t address some needs, starting with the imperative re-signing of restricted free agent David Pastrnak. Beyond that, here are five tasks that must be accomplished this offseason

Would you guys move on from Rask ( 7 mill ) and sign Scott Darling to say 3.5 mill? That would give us some cap breathing room and honestly we would get a good ( not great, but good ) goaltender who can deliver a similar performance that Rask has given us the past couple of seasons.

Darling looked damn good against the Bruins although I don't know much about him or his record this year. Felger was pushing this idea on the radio and to be fair (I think it was Kirk L) who mentioned that He would consider this. IF it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me. Either way, t's all a gamble folks!

If we brought in Jumbo what would we do with Backes? He wasn't that great on wing, much better at center.

Yeah, I'd prefer Backes there if he feels up to it.

I have a feeling this team is coming back with a vengeance next year. it's gonna be like the 08/09 team coming out on fire after the 7 game series in 08.
Me too :yo: I feel an injection of yutes with some AHL experience will make a HUGE difference in the energy level of the bench and team. Kinda like the Hanson brothers did for the Chiefs!:naughty::laugh::sarcasm:

What kind of uniform changes do people expect to see with the Adidas overhaul? Just a new brand logo, or something more?

Looking at ****************, the average lifespan of our dark uniforms is about 10 years, and with no changes since '07 I wouldn't mind a few minor tweaks to establish a new era for the B's.

There are a few concept designs online with gold shoulders on the white sweaters. Some of them look pretty sharp.

I second this. Im so excited to see the new laundry. I dont think the logo will change at all, it wouls have leaked by now and I cant really see how much more can be done? It looks modern, it looks clean. I dont think our jerseys will change at all aside from saying Adidas and may have 3 stripes somewhere.

Im just so glad I never have to look at those Winter Classic 3rds ever again. **** they were ugly. Woulsnt mind a 'different' 3rd jersey, someting like the 2010 WC jersey, I think the thirds should be throwbacks but meh, if they have to have modern looking thirds just go back to the black Fridays, they looked a ******** better than those crappy ass CURSED WC sweaters.

Agree totally with this assessment! ^ I loved the Winter Classic 2010 uniforms and would like to see them back as a third jersey.

Are his kids at the college age?

Wondered the same thing when reading this quote from an article by Zach Leach of Prohockey entitled "Iginla Eyeing a Return To Boston?" Which has the reference to the home he purchased being in Chesnut Hill. As he contends, it's extreme speculation. Can't imagine this is remotely close to being part of Sweeny's a plan for improving the team.

"File this one under extreme speculation if you like, but future Hall of Famer Jarome Iginla, at the very least, is moving to Boston. Whether or not he’s playing for the Bruins in 2017-18 is another matter altogether, but the 39-year-old icon will be spending time in Boston one way or another, as he just purchased a $4.5MM home in the city. The six-bedroom house is located in Chestnut Hill, the home of the Boston College Eagles."

Interesting breakdown, which coincidently is just what happened on the play. Went to the well once to often with what to that point had been such a stellar PK and it cost them a chance to stay in the series. How often it seems that those undiscipled type penalties (mugging was as good a way as any to describe the play) result in the puck ending up in the back of your net. It was a mistake that a maturing Pastrnak will very likely never repeat in such a critical situation. Live and learn as they say.

I'm on board with your heart's proposal, though I'm worried that's my heart speaking and not my brain.

A cheap 1 year he could provide some dressing room leadership for the young prospects and also bring some physicality as well. Plenty of good players look dismal with the Avs--- so he might bounce back in terms of production playing with DK again as well.

Then again, I agree with this too, at least in the long run:

Just STAY AWAY from Iginla, he is done. Our forwards are slow enough with guys like Backes, Krejci and Hayes out there. We need young speedy forwards that can score and force plays in the offensive zone and that sure is not Iginla.

Honestly Iginla at 1 year on cheap money as a mentor type for say a DeBrusk wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

I wouldn't love it, but I sure wouldn't hate it, and neither would my #12 Iginla Bruins jersey in my closet.

Iginla would make more sense if Backes moved to center, but if it's true he's staying at the wing I don't think it works.

This. Probably don't need a top 6 RW if Backes is still a wing. I think they'd prefer to just leave the bottom 6 wings open for the younger guys.

In relative terms I'm excited about next year.

Not to get obsessive about C.J and I should change my avatar, but I was at a 20+ year all time low till he exited. 20+ years of never missing a single puck drop of a single a game other than perhaps 2 or 3 due to technology failures (DVRs and VCRs).

The entertainment to time ratio didn't seem worth it at times the last 2 years. The languishing in the same old issues time and time again (whatever they may be) gave little hope of improvement or change. Hell an entire collapse would have been welcome at some point in any deficiency. At least that might have been a catalyst for change. It just seemed as if we were in limbo state of constant mediocrity and/or disappointment.

I was contemplating just not tuning in opening game later this year. Like quitting drinking because the bad times outweighed the good. It's still something you would enjoy, but the end results were just not worth it.

But between Cassidy, Chara not looking spent (an entire surprise to me), a different style, other factors, and with the final kicker of Mcavoy, I'm now reinvigorated for next season. Devotion out our level is not something that's voluntary many times. I forgot who said it or how exactly it was said, but it goes something like this: " I grew up in MA in the 70's, which requires me to be a Bobby Orr fan" . And so goes being a Bruins fan. Not to snub non-locals or even new local fans, but it's got to be easier to walkaway from a team if your memory for nearly as long as you've been alive isn't peppered Black n' Gold.

And so it goes on, because somehow it just does.
