Would you guys move on from Rask ( 7 mill ) and sign Scott Darling to say 3.5 mill? That would give us some cap breathing room and honestly we would get a good ( not great, but good ) goaltender who can deliver a similar performance that Rask has given us the past couple of seasons.

I wouldn't. Carey Price is set to score somewhere between 8.5m - 9.5m per this offseason. Rask' contract won't look so bad soon. Not to mention he had a strong playoff series considering the injuries this blueline suffered.

I thought he was more good then bad in the playoffs for sure. G2 was a huge letdown and the series winning goal is a huge boneheaded move. He saved our bacon in G5.

IMO, if the return is good for Rask and we can get Darling for under 4, the Bruins should do it.

Any interest in bringing back Joe Thornton on a short term deal? 2yrs/ 5m per? 3rd line center, perhaps preys on opposing teams 3rd pairing dmen. Would help fill the Spooner void on the PP.

I know Joe loves SJ beach lifestyle, but I'd have to assume if the Sharks don't have interest in bringing him back, Boston would maybe be intriguing to him..?

No.

I dont think JJ or Harry will ever allow it.

There were reasons why he, Boynton and Raycroft were sent packing.

Outside of the fans and nostalgia, not sure why Joe would pick the Bruins unless they were offering him the most $$$.

(as much as I'd like to see it happen, I have trouble finding it realistic). But stranger things have happened.

I would absolutely love to bring back Jumbo Joe if the price was right. Would be a great stopgap at center until we can add some center depth in the pipeline.

Anything that you can talk about here?

Nope.

Lets just say there was divsiveness in the room/plane culminating in a conflict on the way home after a Toronto to game right around Thanksgiving before the trade.

Ultimately it was decided that the lunatics wouldnt run the asylum.

That's unfortunate. And I think that's the same season that we saw both Boynton and Raycroft's careers go down the black hole of " WTF happened to you? "

Boynton was a solid top 4 guy with room in his game to be a top pairing/number 2 guy and Raycroft looked like he was going to be the next great Bruins goalie.

All three guys ( Thornton, Boynton, Raycroft ) and you can even include a 4th ( Samsonav ) were all 26 or younger and expected to be the young nucleus of the team. All were gone by 06. Amazing just how quickly it can all go away when a team decides the best course of action is to do a complete reboot.

Joe cried outside a bar the night he was traded. He has a connection to Boston obviously. Curiosity would maybe make him consider it.

I feel like Backes doesn't have interest in playing center here. It's been avoided by now 2 coaches. Maybe in his mind he's a winger now.

I do recall rumors of a negative crew forming in the locker room. I was under the assumption Raycroft & Boynton were moved because they were whiny when Joe got moved. I have no insight as to why Joe was moved, outside of playoff failures.

Bergeron Krejci Thornton center depth would be ridiculous

Would love bringing Jumbo Joe back.

Also, if we aren't able to ship Beleskey to Vegas, as a plan b/c option, I would consider a swap of him + for Cody Eakin. Stars could use a winger and we need a 3rd line center. They have almost the exact same contract with length and term.

Eakin is everything you want in a 3rd line center. He’s defensively responsible and has collected 35, 40, 35 points in the three years prior to this season’s anomaly.

I would be open to trading Rask if we could get some scoring help for him or a package that could then be flipped for a top 6 forward, but would not sign Darling too many unknowns, I would try to see if we could sign Bishop to less than what Rask makes, so still save us some $$ in the end so 5.5 to 6 for 6 years. Of course we would still need to get rid of Beleskey and Hayes. I think Hayes could be dealt for a mid round pick since he is relatively cheap 2.3 and for only 1 year. I would NOT though offer a 1st round pick to get rid of Beleskey I think it can be done for less maybe throw Spooner and/or Grezlcyk to Vegas.

Not sure where to put this. Never heard of a team doing this before?

I have a feeling this team is coming back with a vengeance next year. it's gonna be like the 08/09 team coming out on fire after the 7 game series in 08.

The biggest problem is defence. It has been for many years.

I think we definitely need a defender who drops Chara in 1 pairs.

What kind of uniform changes do people expect to see with the Adidas overhaul? Just a new brand logo, or something more?

Looking at ****************, the average lifespan of our dark uniforms is about 10 years, and with no changes since '07 I wouldn't mind a few minor tweaks to establish a new era for the B's.

There are a few concept designs online with gold shoulders on the white sweaters. Some of them look pretty sharp.

If they keep Thornton everything changes

Do they suck enough to pick 5th and get Kessel who was traded for Seguin who had that amazing game 2 against against TB. Do their trade Samsonov? Lucic came with the pick they got

Do they draft Krejci

Naturally. Trading Thornton was the right move in hindsight. I'd argue the return was off as it was with Seguin. Doesn't mean I'm against bringing him back at the twilight of his career. Jumbo at center with DeBrusk &/ or Bjork Heinen would be fun to watch as a 3rd line

Why?

Would anybody take a one year deal of Jagr?

Why?

Are we a Joe Thornton or Jagr away from the cup next year? What moves follow this? Do we shift from "building the prospect base" to pedal to the medal contend for a cup mode? Are we willing to make the changes/sacrifices of young talent and picks that makes even thinking about Thornton or Jagr make sense?

If the answer is no, then you're just wasting time and blocking someone that actually may be on the next cup team. The Bruins are already above the league average when it comes to the age of their roster, why add more aging players?

We fired Chiarelli for this type of stuff. Yet we watch the roster continue to grow in age and ask for more?

I don't really get it. If we were a couple points away from being a cup contender than sure...but we're supposed to be "rebuilding" here and already have the 6th oldest roster in the league.
