I feel like you need to let go of some of your rage.
Think about Biancosaurus Jr, do you want him growing up in that environment?

Can we get a pizza, Dad?
No, the delivery man is an *******
etc.

i actually recently stopped ordering from my favorite pizza place because they screwed up the order and refused to take the blame for it. Weird.

And biancosaurus JR will grow learnign of tales of Curtis lazar.. he wont want pizza.. he will want high quality protein coupled with fiber dense vegetables.

I hope both sides can out away their egos and Alfie sign a one day deal to retire a Senator.

While Eugene Melnyk didn’t go all the way in his commitment to honour former captain Daniel Alfredsson Sunday, the Senators’ owner told TSN during a pre-game interview he’d “bet†on the number being retired.

That takes care of the biggest liability of the banner ceremony happening. Lets do it opening day next year.

He never met me, not sure what you are getting at. Don't perceive my fandom as an excuse for your lack of logic on this issue.

was not...But why the rush to get his name in the rafters.. him leaving was breaking news like..500 days ago

Kickstart the healing process, and it is so obvious that he is going in so there is no reason to put off the inevitable

UGh everyone chanting his name.. disgusts me. I think he definitely deserves something dont get me wrong.... like a mural somewhere in the stadium... or like a box named after him i dono something... but his number retired.. in the rafters...
Took down his poster when we lost to the Leafs the fourth time.. and then took down his 1000 Point painting when he chose to leave..but i choose to accept all of your love for him....

Name one player in Sens history that deserves his banner raised?

For me it is Redden and Alfredsson, no one else including Phillips after he retires

No one... We havent had that player yet. If he didnt leave then i would ahve said yes (even though he has zero cups to his name, and i have an issue with putting losers in the rafters) but i understand he was a big part of this team for a long time.

If Alfredsson is a loser you must be thoroughly and utterly defeated in life

Would be nice if he signed a 1 day then retired as a sen. When people talk about Ottawa, they think about Alfie, he was a huge part of this team for a long time. Would have been nice if he stayed instead of going to Detroit, but lots of players do that in their last years to try for a cup so thats fine.

For people mad that he left, are you mad at Bourque for going to Colorado? Would you still be mad had Detroit stayed healthy and managed to win the cup?

That is what he gambled, and lost. Good lesson for the kids!

Exactly. Nothing more to say. It was his decision to go play with his friends in Detroit. I'm sure he assumes it, he's a real man.

Oh and if people think it's a "sad way to end a career", let me know how many players end their careers in glory? Just take a look at Brodeur for fun

Yes, Alfie absolutely must retire a Senator and be given a spot in the organization somewhere.

Me:"yes son.. daniel alfreddson # 11, his number is retired, he played for us , and then said he didnt want to anymore and left"
Biancosaurus JR " OH? did he win us any cups?"
ME "uhhhhhh YEA SO ON TO LAZAR! the greatest player who ever was......."

well he left on great terms ( in tears im pretty sure) and he actually went on to win a cup.

*also all time leading dman scorer. 99% of which was doen for the Bruins.

If alfie would have came out and said he wanted a cup and went to a legit contender thats honestly fine. But he didnt.

To be fair, the Bourque thing was handled completely differently.

It was widely known that he was going to go to a contender.

With Alfredsson, we waited to hear about retirement, then we hear that he wants to play another season.

Ottawa collectively celebrates.

And then he's gone at the gong of free agency to another team.

Er what?

Both camps did a poor job in the negotiations, but what I remember is being completely blind-sided.

I laughed at the initial rumors that day. Very funny. Detroit.

Then Bob says, he's going to Detroit.

I think Alfredsson really underestimated the impact his decision was going to have coming out of nowhere like that.

Final living member of the 1927 Ottawa Senator Stanley Cup winning team, was a big proponent in Ottawa receiving another franchise. His number was retired on our first game.

I really hope when the Senators retire Alfredsson's number that they change Finnigans banner to more contemporary look. Our banners are all over the place

I knew that much, I just never thought that was worthy of having your number retired.

1. He never won a cup for Ottawa
2."I'm not worried about my legacy"

Doesn't deserve to have his number retired imo.
