I'm just happy he's doing it in Ottawa where it should be. I won't lie, I'll be shedding a few tears that day.

Hopefully Alfie comes back to Ottawa and becomes an important part of the org. This town and team would gain much from it.

It really seems like a cash grab to have this against the Islanders instead of a non-Leafs rival. We played the Islander what...once? Twice maybe? I hope this doesn't become a trend with the organization, trying to make money off player's backs. Very distasteful.

Isn't this Ottawa's first home game since news broke that Alfie had the setback and was likely calling it a career?

You are reaching quite a bit here. Do you know what Alfie's request was? Perhaps he wanted it done as soon as possible?

First of all, it is a bronze game...if you want to go see it, it will be a cheap game.

Sometimes people invent things in quite spectacular ways...

A cash grab? Are you serious? Time is of the essence... think about it.

90% of me says I love you alfredsson.

10% of me says **** you you traitor.

Am I the only one that no matter how good I feel about him, part of me deep down is still tarnished by his decision to leave Ottawa.

Remember Neil a few years ago saying something along the lines of "we want players who want to play for us. If they don't they can gtfo"... Part of me agrees with Neils ideology.

My dream scenario:

Alfie signs a contract with the Sens.

He takes the pre-game warmup in his uniform , with his C on it and fans get one last chance to see him on the ice, shoot pucks etc...before the Zamboni comes on he does his last twirl on the ice .

Nah, I'm completely over it. Devestated at first, then angry, 6 stages of grief blah blah blah. He gave so much to the Senators, he's allowed his one "selfish" decision to go play elsewhere. It's not tarnished for me at all. He obviously wanted to play with his Swedish buddies his own age for a year and not want to babysit anymore.

Yeah I'd say I'm about the same.

I think him not playing this year and having to go out the way he did softened my outlook on the whole thing, felt bad for him.

It will just be nice to have him back in the Sens organization.

The best Swedish player on both teams was karlsson.

Also I may be wrong but all the Swedish players on Detroit are significantly younger.

Kronwall is like a decade ish younger.
Zetterberg is like 7 years younger.
The rest are lesser pieces and still much younger.
They didn't have that good of a chance at the cup.

Wtv. I'll have to get over it.

Me and my buddy were debating buying tickets throughout the game.

Then Bob pretty much confirms the retirement, and stub hub tickets jumped from $22 to $45!

Luckily a commercial for the Pizza Pizza pack aired.

$34 taxes in and you get your drink and pizza.

By all accounts he knows those guys very well and they were the ones telling him to come to Detroit. Everyone is going to be younger than Alfredsson, but they're still way more hockey veteran than anything we may have had.

I'm not in Alfie's head, but that's my guess. An okay shot at a cup if everything goes well, plus getting to play with veteran Swedish guys who you are friends with.

I mean what if you worked at a job for 18 years and wanted to go somewhere different and wanted to get paid more? Would they call you a traitor.

I mean the guy lost millions and millions of dollars playing for us over his career, I just don't think of him has a traitor.
