im after kaapo and for now ive got zadina and rasmussen on the table .
i can take back a bad short term contract , plus retain 50% on both z and r .
then also add a depth player to help this years playoffs such as a stecher , suter , stephens...

my plan is to convert kaapo back into a center
Kaapo has always been a winger.

Kakko is the center on his line. Strome does nothing you would expect a center to do besides taking faceoffs.

Wouldn’t mind seeking Kakko next to Zegras. His line is missing a Power forward. Him going to the Ducks won’t hurt as bad if he finds his game and breaks out.

But. Rangers aren’t trading Kakko. They shouldn’t .

There’s legit concern around laf. He doesnt seem interested and looks like a floater. He’s a victim of being drafted 1st overall, he shouldn’t be in the nhl right now.

How many points do those guys have?

more than what Kakko is producing now ! o_O

Dach GP 12-3-2-5
Zegras GP 11-2-3-5
Kakko GP 7-0-0-0

my point is Dach looks like he could be one of the best power forwards in the game if he keeps developing his offensive game like he has! He's a big right shooting center, very valuable these days, and has looked like a beast every time he has played the Oilers because he was so hard to handle !

Not ready to give up on two 20-year olds.

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, they’re in somewhat unique positions where they’re not placed into automatic big-time minutes. The Rangers have established players in front of them.

Weird seasons with COVID as well.

Keep their work ethic established. Hartford if need be. That’s about it.

Not a chance id consider trading them. The return would almost certainly benifit the other team more than the Rangers. Too soon to give up on them too

Lafreniere is the 2nd top point scorer from his draft year.

Kakko is the 2nd top point scorer from his draft year.

Just because these kids didnt light it up like McDavid in their teens, you want rid of them after 2/3 years?

Behave!

You thread as absolutely pathetic and im embarrassed it came from a Rangers fan.

Give them bloody time.
Yea but where they were drafted they have been underwhelming. I see red flags especially kakko.

compete disagree

He justs needs a bit more development, plus right linemates.
He's coming along nicely under coach G after idiot Q did not help.

A line of
LaF - Chytil - Gauthier

would work fine.

Lafreniere is the 2nd top point scorer from his draft year.

There have only been 2 forwards who have played 15 games from that draft class. So he's 2nd out of 2 who have played any reasonable amount of time. Lucas Raymond is 40% of the way to his point total in 1/6th the games.

Kakko is the 2nd top point scorer from his draft year.

He's 15 points behind hughes in 2 more games. He's 2 points ahead of Dach despite playing 30 more games. He's 9 points ahead of Hoglander despite playing 50+ more games. Zegas is nearly halfway to his point total (40 to 18) in less than a third of the games played. Out of the forwards from that draft class who have hit 50 games, he's dead last in points per game, I'm pretty sure.

I don't disagree that it's silly to be having conversations about moving on from either one, but just using the bulk point totals to try and show good production in comparison to other young guys is a bit misleading.

See thats where the issue lies.

Kakko's point production has been disappointing but his overall play is actually very strong. His board game, 200 ft game and defending has improve massively.

His point contribution may be lacking but with great impovements in his overall game, I have strong faith his points will come.

Should have traded for Eichel when they could. Drury completely dropped the ball holding onto the untouchable busts.
Untouchable busts that Adams would have ripped Drury’s hand off for if Pegula allowed them to deal with the Rangers.

I feel just a tiny bit for the Rangers, who by taking Krappo Krappo, passed on a potential stud center in Kirby Dach, Dylan Cozens and Trevor Zegras. :dunno:
Every single one of those teams would have taken Kakko over those players if they had the chance.

Obviously this says more about the Rangers development, but this is a lot of grandstanding.

I agree but I doubt rangers thought they were drafting a Brian boyle checker type at 2nd overall. He was quite hyped I remember.
