As a package or individual trades
Need: elite young center with lots of speed
c'mon EJ, you're better and smarter than this!
1. Regardless of immediate need, must grow total level of talent which is usually only via steady, selective, opportunistic draft and development [b'c unless there are extenuating circumstances/gross misevaluation of talent, trading does not return better pieces].
Trades are for if/when opportunity knocks, and to then also deal from position of strength with surplus, not from position of weakness b'c of deficit. Example is the competition --- which drives up price --- of suitors for our young D. And we keep those D, except for Fox, b'c of need to have full roster w/depth, + cap compliant, etc.

2. Our pivot situation is not shallow.
Zib = 1st line guy
Chytil = 2nd line w/upside
Barron/Krav = 3rd line now no prob, w/upside
blais/Rooney etc etc = 4th line fully covered

Yes, we could use a high end prospect C [so can everyone else besides LAK], but availability and price prohibit that, and again, for umpteenth time, dealing youth = vets which damages cap structure and limits roster flexibility. I see here you went with 2 elcs for one elc, but my pt remains.

3. Patience.
Kakko may turn out to be Draisatil (very) lite and LaF was rated most complete/upside 1OA prospect since MacKinnon.

4. You need to join me in going in the correct direction.
We don't want to use LaF + KK to get a high end C; we want to use other pieces to get a high end C prospect to add to them.

Have something in mind for Kraken's Bernier
am busy now
will try to post this w'e

Don't be silly, bern's not going to let you trade bluest of blue chips.
Damn right!

empty words. he still responds in bern's threads.
bern champions free speech and is open to tolerance and discussion, even with those with whom he happens to disagree.

Obviously, from the above we may gleam you endorse the opposite.

Stand in the well of shame and ignominity that you deserve.

There's something incongruous about this being in a section entitled "Normal Threads".

If you're the Rangers, would you give up Lafreniere and Kaako for Draisaitl?

New York's top 6
Panarin - Draisaitl - Kreider
Kravtsov/Chytil - Zibanejad - Strome

Edmonton's top 6
Hyman - McDavid - Puljujarvi
Lafreniere - RNH - Kaako

Lafreniere is the 2nd top point scorer from his draft year.

Kakko is the 2nd top point scorer from his draft year.

Just because these kids didnt light it up like McDavid in their teens, you want rid of them after 2/3 years?

Behave!

You thread as absolutely pathetic and im embarrassed it came from a Rangers fan.

Give them bloody time.

im after kaapo and for now ive got zadina and rasmussen on the table .
i can take back a bad short term contract , plus retain 50% on both z and r .
then also add a depth player to help this years playoffs such as a stecher , suter , stephens...

my plan is to convert kaapo back into a center

Obviously they both have a lot of value but I can't think of a team that'd deal "a young elite center" for them. Those players just don't get moved

I like the both of them, 1st overall and 2nd overall in their draft years, but so far not much offense out of either.

Do you really think that Lafreniere and Kaako are worth Draisaitl? Please tell me you are joking because if you are not you should be banned.

How many players from their draft years have played in the NHL?

I feel just a tiny bit for the Rangers, who by taking Krappo Krappo, passed on a potential stud center in Kirby Dach, Dylan Cozens and Trevor Zegras. :dunno:

I’m not going to suggest either player has played as expected when drafted, but this is a problem with all young players coming into the league. Players aren’t superstars that early in the current iteration of the league.

I’m much more concerned about the coaching and management. I think the coach is out of touch with the modern day game, and the GM is one of these GM’s that carries a big reputation as an understudy and then is clearly out of his depth in the main job. Rangers need to start with getting rid of those guys, not the best young assets.

The rangers shouldn't be trading for young forwards because they will bust as soon as they get to NY.
