Draisaitl is as close as you could ever get to Mcdavid and that was the sort of trade that might??? get the oilers to consider it. A goalie no matter how good doesn't trump a top 2-4 first line center who scores 50 goals but is an even better passer. We all love our star players, which is why oiler fans wouldn't do this deal either.

I'm not particularly worried about Lafreniere. He'll figure it out sooner or later. Kakko might be different. If he can't improve his skating it will limit him going forward. Still young though.

It was Caufield and a non-protected 1st round pick, which should be top-10. And, yes, I would. Lafreniere doesn't impress me in the least. And if you think Shesterkin is worth McDavid in a trade, you should be sitting lmao.

Oilers have one of the best players ever in his prime and have never even reached the Conference final with him on the team. They have another HOF in his prime as the side-kick.

Rangers would be in such a better spot right now if they just drafted Dach instead of Kakko (always value centers over forwards). Then in the Lafreniere draft if they really wanted to they could of traded that pick for a massive haul. Probably one of the biggest hauls in nhl history. That would of easily got them a center but they didn't do that either. Instead they decided to build around forwards. Biggest mistake they made. You can never build around a forward it doesn't matter how good they are if your center depth is nonexistent.
